Description : Made for Anomaly Jonez's Melodic Synergy competition being hosted on Mixposure.

Conceptually about the synergetic reactions with super hot gases and specific metals. A kind of Syergetic Metal Dub Dance Hop piece.

Tried to go minimal and kept it to 8 tracks in Ableton Live. Recorded as a live mix with the Akai APC40.

Loops from the pack assembled by Anomaly used include loops by Nightingale, Kurt, rei4real, and me. The base groovy groove is made primarily from Dj4Real loops. Drum loops are mostly ones I've made with Live and my Axiom 25.

I listened to this piece on mixsposure. This track really moves along at an exciting pace. I though it both cleverly arranged and well produced.

So dig the basement Jazz tip intro as you know, drums are just awesome, feels like it is taking you somewhere else before it takes a corner into a Helter Skelter of warped goodness..as I suspected sounds so different listening again, organic and alive, such a trip my man. faved.

This is an awesome fusion of styles! It's good to hear what you can do with loops! This does have a very live feel to it! And lively too! Awesome rhythms! I like the title too, it seems to fit the idea of the song! Great work my friend!

Actually in finally naming this thing, I knew what it was about and then found the composition. It's a fusion that really began as an awkward juxtaposition, but the qualities of rei4real's Metal guitar loops keyed me in to the concept that became the focus. Weird how creativity works at times. I'm enjoying doing these things live with a MIDI controller, and am sure it helps create that live feel. Thanks for the encouragement my friend!

Even with someone else supplying the loops you still seem to maintain your unique style and sound to this piece. It really does seem to be a crossover type song as far as genre goes, very creative in that regards.

You seem to be getting some great results with the APC40 controller. I still haven't got to that point of using my Axiom 25 as a controller but hearing your music really inspires me to experiment a little more so thanks for the inspiration Sean.

Good luck in the comp, this has to be in the running, great job!!

I think that like in collage art, with loops there are certain things you can do to "take possession" of them and make them yours, you know? Of the loops listed above, only 2 are vaguely recognizable now and like collage it's got a lot to do with finding inherent relationships and then teasing out those qualities in the individual components.

Live for me is doing it "DJ" style, so the controller approach is perfect for me. It allows me to play with the inherent swells in the music and dance with it in real time. Makes it all so much more organic - like playing the controller(s) as an ad-hoc electronic instrument. Very fun and challenging. You're going to love the Axiom 25 as a controller! The possible configurations change everything - imo. Thanks again, Wayne!

Inspired by a track of Pseudoble. I was noodling along to his track "I wish I didn't know" (which is awesome) and had the words "Snow in Athens" in my head. This with the smooth jazz/fusion atmosphere led me to this track with a sort of Steely Dan feel.

Description : This track is built around the repetitive lead guitar line which I have previously incorporated as an intro for the rocker track "Sweetheart Runner" by LM user TinyFinger whom I have helped in arranging, mixing and producing his song. This extended session was a good oportunity to test some new equipment....Thanks to Tiny for not being mad about it...:)^^

Description : Psychedelic blues hip hop with lead banjo and acoustic resonator slide guitar. Acoustic drum kits, fat basslines, soaring filtered strings, some strong Eastern elements (from guitar and strings), some dub and funk from the bass and drums and a bit of rocking electric guitar. Very unusual piece of music and a trip like no other I've heard. Some of it is like a dark, deep Southern delta blues track over a hip hop and dub backing. All played and programmed by me, no loops used.

After a quite turbulent long travel we’ve reached a totally unknown planet which is mostly covered with clouds. As we pass over it we can see parts of rivers through the clouds that come out of the dark rocky surface in some places. So the whole scene is alternating textures of white, dark gray and silver flashes. Unfortunately there’s no chance to land anywhere so we just pass, wonder and travel on …

Description : Real acoustic, electric and bass guitars played by me. Drums are loops and programmed MIDI. Played piano and synths. Lots of layers and delay. A gated moog, organ, my recorded finger-snaps and a reversed bass guitar effect that sounds like throat-singing. Three movements, divided by moments of calm. Thoughts and feedback are welcome.
