im begining to understand with what you meant with live mixdown
i had listen to some of your impresive tracks here , very dynamic feels like you're telling a story with your tracks
wise synths selection and very well leveled especially this track. there is one thing that ticked me ( in a good way ) ...the bassline that start at 1:33
what did you do with it? it sounds so round and full ( i hope you understand what i meant ) it is the exact bass sound that linger in my head. did you layer it with another sound or add compresor/limiter to it? or is there any particular effect that you use for it?
i hope you don't mind that i carry on our conversation here :)
Hi Aya, sorry for not getting back sooner. Typically I don't save the project under the track name I finally end up calling it! Took me a while to find it!. The bass line you refer to is from a Roland Jupiter 8V vst which is an older analogue style keyboard. Its pretty rich to start with but I just used an Eq to filter out anything lower than 20khz and slightly boosted it around the 130hz and little more at 280hz mark just to give a bit of punch. On the Master track I use Izotope 5 for the overall mastering mix using a widening and exciter setting. I hope that helps?

Why "enter" in the technicality details who sometimes of have no common sense .... At least that's my humble opinion.
Without controversy, and without polemical, when I hear a good track, the nice sounds, the melodic parts, I'm therefore to make a comment, because I enjoyed listening .... and encourage the creator to persevere in this direction.
In summary, I appreciate your track here, and the work you've done.
And for to conclude:
For remain logic, nothing is perfect, and if it was .... Many of us would not be here.
I like this track.
Hi Dan. I respect your comment's as always and what I was referring to in previous replies is the habit some people have of commenting on other people's tracks only for the promotion of their own. The way looperman is now working, your track goes to the top of the featured tracks when you comment on other peoples tracks. Its like with Soundcloud where people follow you only for the pupose of receiving a following back and not to look out for more of your work. I think we learn over time how to sort out people who respect our work for what it is and the intent of their commentary. I just try to be respectful as much as I can to those who do take the time to comment. Also as we are only communicating in text we can read what emotion we like into the meaning, one could be making a joke while somene else reads it as a serious jibe? Anyway I am glad you like the track and I do like to receive any comments that people feel could make it a better listening experience as I work alone and collaboration can be very powerful. By the way I just love the start of "White Lady" reminds me of early Alan Parsons Project.
Kind regards
Steve
Yes, guess you don't get so much time for music. I seem to remember you have children so that's probably why.
Really like intro. Those two parts layered well. The second one in the background is, I think, the stronger one though I'm not necessarily saying switch them round in terms of prominence (though it's worth a try).
My complain here is your pad sound. What's is playing is fine, I just find it a beat clichéd and I think you could find a better one. Going through squillions can be so damn boring but I make myself do it from time to time and sometimes it's boring time really well spent.
Bass arrives nicely on 0:32.
I'd prefer a better bass drum sound though must admit I'm listening to this on crappy headphones. Kick sounds better mixed in with other drums but on its own thee are others I definitely prefer.
Classy little pause and bass drop on 1:30. Similar on 1:44 but you keep the kick going so that's good variety.
Pad chord emphasis on 2:02 sounds particularly good.
2:13 trippy build up synth sound very effective.
Everything is motoring along so nicely now and this isn't cheesy.
It's a well chosen blend of sounds you have here. This isn't the most original style (most things aren't, if that makes sense) but it's done very well. Lots of beauty and positivity and joy and fun.
I guess when the beat returns in the second half, the track doesn't do a whole lot more than first half but then some might say there is no need when you have these effective elements.
Actually, 4:41 new slow, hi and beautiful lead part that is very relaxing and slightly sad, though only in a good way.
Not so much for me to pick out as being 'wrong' with this and I'm really trying.
I bet you two considered reviews (of my stuff) that by the time you have got to 100 plays, at least 5 people will have said they love it and it's so relaxing and beautiful etc. Don't laugh! Do we have a bet?
Bass drum was a tricky one as I wanted to be more a pulse than a punch but as you say it can depend on the quality of speakers to monitor if the result is ok. I'm not much in for tit for tat commenting to get my track back up top of the featured list so it's rare I get over 30 plays or so. I just scan the tracks for interesting commentary about the track or artists I'm familiar with. But I will see how many plays = 5 cheesy comments!
I'll give a better, fuller review later. Just wanted to briefly say that this grew on me a lot as I was listening to it.
Thought at first I wouldn't like it as it seemed a bit bright and happy and slightly cheesy for my tastes. But, no, it's actually really good and a lot of fun. Quite charming, really.
Again, more details later but I can't hear anything much out of place in the mix either.
Various people are now going to come along and tell you how much they love this.
Hello again. Thanks for the feedback and I look forward to a more in depth analysis. I had to laugh at your last line but I understand. I am learning not to be so lazy and to spend more and more time (what precious time I have for music!) working a track rather than having a few red wines, getting excited and posting it! But only through well thought out constructive feedback like yours does one improve one's discipline.
Cheers

Description : Sounds of the sea and trippy acidy washes with a cool beat and some live acoustic guitar. Written in Cubase with live guitar and keys etc. The sound of the sea and birds was recorded on the beach where I used to live. After moving to the city one sunny day I was telling stories to a friend about living by the sea and started making this track.
Description : This improv recorded a few years ago powered my interest even further than I expected.....recorded using tc electronics pedal and tascam studio recorder and a Fender Squier tele electric....
Description : I used some new "Anthem" pickups from L.R. Baggs on my Martin acoustic to see how it performed, and it definitely beat my expectations. Captured the sound perfectly as I needed.
Anyhoo, this song is almost a prayer, hence the repetitiveness of the verses. As Christians, we believe that God will one day return and take away every suffering and all evil for good; in that regard, this song is almost one of waiting too. Very simple, with vocal harmonies and whatnot. Hope you enjoy this as much as I did making it. Made in 13 hours.
Someone else wrote the words, I was just inspired to use them. I only added the "Yeah" and "Amen."
Description : This is a track off of one of my EP's I dropped last year. It is based on True events. Sometimes when people finally take a second in life to slow down and breathe in..... The oxygen is deflated and it's too late. Take your time people, because time is what differs a good decision over a bad one. Life is precious!

Description : So a guy buys a nice guitar at a pawn shop but returns it a few days later after waking from a sound sleep to hear it playing by itself. When he tells of his experience he is shocked to learn the owner had actually died while playing it. Is it fantasy or truth? Is the guitar in this track that very same guitar? Its all part of the mystery and fun of Halloween !
EDIT: modified ending to a deeper voice
Description : This track describes a magical state that I experienced a long time ago. Maybe you also know the feeling that you can't describe something like this with words ... luckily we have the music for it!
Description : So this is my first Chill Outish track. I was just trying something new and then suddenly this was a thing. Everything you hear is home made. I hope you enjoy. - Mr. Spook'd

Description : A progressive journey incorporating deep ambient chillout, swing jazz, hip hop, d'n'b, trance and a slight touch of acid with a thousand ninjas battling in space. Features a great deal of my lead slide resonator guitar playing. Also a whole load of synths, programmed acoustic drum kits and manipulated drum loops, big basslines, regular electric guitar, vocoded guitar parts and bass guitar (distorted right at the end). If you like deep chill, far out soaring beauty, fat beats and 170 BPM uplifting slide trance controlled mayhem, you might just get into this. In my heaven there is an endless supply of honey mangoes (an exquisite beauty of the fruit world) and even more slide guitar. A 1,000-year-long version of this track plays there on a loop (long enough not to get bored of it) but here I offer you the Earthly 11 min version. You must be very good to be accepted into my heaven to hear the full thousand year version so best start now. It may be heaven's main theme tune but it's not above criticism so feel free to let me know what you think of it. Maybe you prefer the soundtrack in hell. I hear it's pretty badass...
