Description : basically this is a new version of my track "turn it on", at least it's based on it, I cut out the guitar, added some arp melodies, changed the bassline a little bit .... the result is actually a new track that fits better into the electronic genre, so I changed also the name .... have fun with it, peace, rei .... UPDATE .... guitar is in again, but only some new funky lines, pretty subtle ... have fun!!! rei

hi, and thx a lot for taking the time for a close listen!!
well, you're right, there are no chord changes in this track .... that's part of my personal style, I like to keep it very simple with the chords, instead of making changes I love to build up a track with many different parts and melodies ... sometimes though I write tracks with a more complex chord structure, it depends on my mood I guess ....
Hej Rei!
A well found title – the sounds drops in and it's an excellent performed track. I saw someone mention a Rei-category, I'd second that, you have your own unique sound.
Peace
/pmk
well, I think every musician wants to create his own sound, but that's hard to achieve ... it's great to hear that you think I did it ... ;-)
thx a lot for this motivating review!!
Here I have found an older tune with is very pleasant to listen to. Guess I must have missed this one back when it first came out. I like the neat music sounds going on in the background. Different parts taking turns coming and out and the bell like sounds really set it off.
Guess it would work well in a mystery type of movie.
Great job here and shows that you can do anything with music!
Randy
oh ... thx Randy!!!
it started as a hip-hop-rock-track actually, but the more ideas I added, the more it turned into some electro style, then I cut out the rock guitar and added some guitar melodies ... et voila, you heard the result ... ;-)
it was an interesting journey until the work was done ... and I love it when a track develops it's own character ... like this one ...
it's great that you liked it!!!
Hey Rie...I remember the first version..man this track has changed..I liked the first version..but this has more...hmmm...BEEF!...superb articulation between the guitar and bass/rhythm line...you've been honing your keyboard skills I see as well...an excellent track from any direction...I also think one element of your music goes unsaid a lot of the time and that is it's universal appeal which undoubtedly inspires a lot of people to bigger and broader horizons in their own music..Viva rei!...cheers Dave :)
thank you Dave!!!
maybe that universal appeal you mentioned comes from my open mind and my way to listen to all music that I come across ... I played a lot of different music in my life, from classical to austrian folk music, pop and rock to jazz, I sang in different choirs ... and I loved everything I did ...
I guess you have similar experiences, that's why you are able to notice that ... ;-)
thank you again Dave!!!
Great low bass sound. All the synth sounds going on but a lot of space still. Bells were a nice touch. Glad you put the guitar in there, made a difference I think.
yeah, the bassline is made of 4 different vst's, was much work to make it sound like that ...
and you're right, the guitar changed the mood of the song a lot!!!
thx for your review ... ;-)
peace, rei
I think there needs to be a special genre here - "rei4real music."
You continually transcend genres with your creations. There are the identifiable elements, but this could be classified in many different genres and each would be equally as valid.
On several occasions in the forums I've written that music is an emotional language. You take it to a new level, as it's really emotional aggregates you bring forth. Like poetry in abstract/logical language, you're able to convey more in a single melody phrase than should be possible with the notes involved. If it were medicine, I'd call it a type of synergy - where the sum total exceeds the elements involved.
Rei, my friend, I'm so glad you've returned to this community. It's a true honor sharing this space with you. Added to personal favorites.
haha ... well, if I should get my own genre, then you would deserve to get your own "featured reviewers box" together with planetjazzbass ... your reviews are always a pleasure to read!!
thousand thx Sean!!
Really good stuff wow, I regret I didn't hear your first draft to compare to. Thank Eshar for the heads up on this! The crisp production really makes this stand out.
hey...really a nice one...i listen a second time to it...
and i would really like to offer this one to my new friend KeMo...
he could do some german rap...and i have a vocal melody in mind...
but there is one thing i would like to have...could you do a mix with turning down the bell melody a bit...all the rest is just perfect...then send me the new mix :)
great track...great sounds...i like the guitar much :)
ich würde mich seeeeeehr freuen :))))))
keep it up man :)
cheers...JW...
das klingt schon sehr interessant, ich denk mal drüber nach ... soweit ich mich erinnere hab ich vor kurzem einen track von dir mit KeMo gehört ... ich meld mich per mail!!

heh.. I was in olympia washington chillin' with a bunch of Dj's and some musicians at this beat box comp. and one of the things I did was show some of the dj's some of the looperman crowd.
for some reason rei4real was the big hit.
big surprise.
Really nice track with a mellow but slightly dark feel to it - just what I like! Don't know what instrument/sample it is but those high pitched melody line were giving me shivers - awesome... My only other comment would be that I would have loved to hear some sultry female vox over this track!
Since you started playing keys you haven't put a note wrong......Excellent job Rei!...I love Electronic music as it bridges the divide between contemporary and future musical styles......tres cool..cheers planet
A masterclass on electronic music and the art of groove, this is. The multiple key tracks sound great and that bass makes me wanna say "you're a mean one, Mr Grinch". This won't make any sense to you at all but it sounds like the musical version of my thought process when designing blueprints and models for school. I'm gonna listen to this while I work on my graduate project. Inspiring.
This is a very interesting departure from your normal work. In that regard I like it. It's really healthy to take chances. The playing and production is tight, but personally I would like to hear some more organic sounds. I am not speaking of "live" really, but "analog". The notes are all there and the melody is catchy (as is always the case for you), I am just wondering what it might take for you to dip this out of the '80's and move it into the '70's sonically. But then that is just my personal taste. Definitely a cool track. Peace and love, Six
Love the beat. And the keys are great too. Kind of made me think Jackson, Micheal or Janet. I don't really understand all the gernes but it seems smooth and mellow almost ambiant. Even though it's very upbeat. Great song.

I liked it, the mastering was very good and I really enjoyed the arp patterns. You could improve it by tweaking velocities of the notes because as it is now it feels a bit "mechanical", not that it is bad since it's an electro track.
Cool drum beat and bassline...the bells sound wicked on this one...and that subtle ebbing sound you've got in the background...sounds like a dive into an ice cavern...especially with the introduction of the glacial-sounding chimes...cool track Rei..I really like this one...

Description : Feel free to check out the video on YT as well (Alan McLaren Project - Upside Down) of this 6min journey from electronic to rock with some psychedelic moments...
This is my latest, but also one of my earliest tracks.... any feedback is more than welcome, thanks :)
Description : This is a strictly groove track where the elements of ambient meets electronic funk and Hip Hop. I play all instruments on the track excluding guitar solo which was performed by my friend Art Miller.
Description : A demo of one of my current projects. The chorus vocal sounds like "Aaaaraashe" to me. The song is in C# minor with a nod to C# pythagorean on the chorus. The beat on the verse was inspired by the Peter Gabriel song Intruder.
Description : This is one of my earliest productions that I did at the start of my recording career. I did not have a keyboard at the time I made this song, so I improvised and used my sister's iPad and a 5 dollar GarageBand application instead, and plugged the headset jack into into my PT6 rig and did my best to turn each individual track (which were mono and there were about 25 tracks or so) into a stereo image. Then recorded vocals over it. My computer was so old and slow that I had to mix my music and then BOUNCE it to a new session - four times. My computer (which had 512 MB RAM and an 80 GB hard drive) couldn't handle more than 8 tracks at a time or it'd stop working because the processor couldn't handle it. Took me FOREVER to do. But I got it done. Had a lot of fun doing it too, even if it isn't my "best" work. I'm still happy with it, considering I didn't have many tools to choose from at the time.
Description : Long time lurker first time poster, pretty new to production n stuff, this is my first track in Ableton Live.
was going for a darkwave/synthwave sound, reminiscent of Justice, Carpenter Brut, Perturbator, ect.
Looking for some feed back, constructive criticisms or even just your thoughts if you liked it or not. This is just a rough cut on this current WIP, just the bones of it if you will.. If you have some cool title suggestions, would love to hear those too.
Thanks for listening.

Description : Far out mid-tempo fat beat deep chillout grooves with Eastern/Arabic and slightly menacing vibes, huge delayed synth bass and a great palette of psychedelic layered and intricate sounds (mostly synths) and a stirring, epic feel. Even has guitar solo section reminiscent of some 80s power rock which is then followed by a brief synth harp solo. I began making it straight after staying round the flat of the flute player from the legendary Ozric Tentacles - easily the greatest ever space rock band. I made this in about 2001 and still think it might be my best track (and it's nice and short, for a change). My production skills were much weaker in those days (no EQ, compression or mastering used here) but, somehow, this one turned out pretty much just right. Feel free to disagree. Now sit back and get ready to trip extremely far out. If you manage to return, let me know how that trip was...
Description : Got some spare time finally...just started on some random ideas basically (lets say kygo meets alan walker). A blend of dubstep, edm, downbeat, tropical etc.
It's still a work in progress, so i would appreciate your honest inputs. Thanks to all those whose loops I have used in here, sorry I don't have time to search them out.
Edit-added some more filthy sounds from my previous tracks and gave it some ending. Advice will be helpful.
and thank you also for listening!!
