Digging this one! Had half a fat dragon bowl left so it's a good time to settle into one of your mixes. The break around 1:20 is quite effective, despite it's simlicity... minimal is king. I'd move to this "house" if it was in the cheap hood. Second part definitely has a cool bass groove! I like the mixing on this section - nice wide high frequencies, and a solid center. Those vocals fit in nicely as well. Enjoying the third part as well! It's just got a bit more going on, and I know how that's hard to manage, but it sounds nice to me. Had fun hearing the whole mix! Have a great day!

Thanks, I'm just into the idea of doing little mixes at the moment because A, i'm not giving away full tracks and B, i've run out of track space on my profile so i might as well try and squeeze in as much tunage as possible.
Thanks for dropping in and giving it a listen.
Your thoughts are appreciated.

Hey mate :)

First thing I've heard from you in a while!

Loving the sound of these and the mix sounds pretty much spot on. Still trying to figure out why you've uploaded this as a 10 minute track when all of those different parts could stand as tracks on their own??

Either way great job man!

Yeah i was out of action for ages so i'm just trying to get back into the swing of things. I've been doing these minimixes because i don't want to give away full tracks anymore (too many indian robots downloading my stuff) Besides, it's just fun anyway.
Glad you could drop by for a listen.

Cool mix once again mate, the first bit reminds me of orbital or plump djs or something :) haha. Would much rather listen to this kinda music than the crap I usually hear when Im out at the weekend! The vocal samples are cool! Gets a bit more serious in the second part, nice driving bassline. Vocals compliment the track nicely. Third part is pretty banging as well, I like the percussion and all the little glitchy noises. The first part is prob my fav, really liked the feel of it, well done mate this gets my seal of approval for sure ;)

I like how the house gradually changes from "older" form to the "newer" form of house. You did it in a way that was simple and nice.

The first part sounds like a simple, classic style house track, with its old school kicks and crashes.

Part two has nice vocals, which somewhat reminds me of pop and house together, closer to the modern era in music. Great flow in that one.

Part three has a more complex feel to it. It didn't catch my attention as the first two did, but it's still impressive to hear how it came out. Nevertheless, cheers!

first of all what a cool name ...
it also reminds me this article >>
http://monetaryrealism.com/steve-waldmans-latest-post-a-series-of-riffs/
despite obviously there's no relevancy ...anyway..
regarding part 3 I generally enjoyed the variation which
U had designed to happen by selecting that interval of synth.
...was a surprise...especiallY when then the girl begun to sing ...I think when that interval synth comes into music , it's interval toward 3 non key membranophonic line is sensible & U can easily change the pitch of third membranophonic line & Atune with the varation and in fact the scale of that synth interval ..
also something like a altrasion in main melody , or a considered stop , or a syncope too could be another test for a more considered movemenT ..
buT to be honesT this is really god & cool & energizer enough right now too ..& U know I know nothing about such genres...
vocal part was remarkable...& U had hit the targeT by designing a surprise in which vocal was added to us when we didn't guess ...many thnx for sharing FR ....
I downloaded it & will enjoy listening to this later more too ..___Behnam

I've never heard of Steve Waldman so yeah the title is just a coincidence. Glad you enjoyed this little three piece medley and i'm also glad i suprized you with the vocal. It took me a while to get to the end of this track as creativity doesn't seem to be flowing to well since i stopped smoking weed. I'm hoping things will improve in time when i finally get my head around the synths i just bought.
Cheers for tuning in.

Love the drums on this one throughout and a nice bass line in the middle. In each section they are all great to listen to however they dont seem to have a natural link when they fade into each other other than being like a sample track of different works? All nicely mixed, balanced and clean. Nice use of vocals. Is there a Poizone synth in there? Overall a great listening experience!
FreeRadical
FreeRadical replied 14th Jun 2014 - 10 years ago
Yeah, the idea was to make it like a mini DJ mix so it was just a case of fade one out and bring another in. I did use the poizone synth for the ARP in track 2 so well spotted. I'm new to VST's so i'm still learning what they can do (or struggling to learn i should say)
Thanks for dropping in and commenting on the track.

Complex track. Love all that you did here. Can't give you technical genre help cuz I know nothing of electronic music but the sounds, loops, samples and everything else gelled seamlessly. Felt like this track went on for days, lol, mean that in a good way. Long interesting tracks are long and interesting. Th emix and overall sound sound of the track is the first thing I noticed, great quality.

Well done man!

Intro is just amazing (speechless) and "Old is cool" 1:15 is like a gentle slow motion smack in the face, then a dizzying change in percussion thats just perfection. Good build up. You are giving a schoolin! to these youngsters on this era of dance music. I love how the scream is more maniacal than most dance music screams. Nice ring mod (sounds like a Korg Kaos Pad). Then the drums get heavy and we fade things out and make a mix at 3:30. I would love to work with the first part and add some ideas. The sign of a great song for me that stimulates my own creativity. The second part is a good house tune in it's own right. The vocals are sweet mix reminds me of Ratty. Synths are sweet on this one. At this point I have to fav it. Ok now on to sound 3 . Synth bass is funky but I think I would like to hear it louder in the mix. The popping sounds are a bit too much I think. Nice fill. With the vocals, at the end of her phrase you need to counterpoint it with a synth that mimics the melody. Judas Priest is famous for this with there guitars mimic-ing rob Halfords vox in this way. The third song has great potential to be such a dark and foreboding dance tune if you work at the arrangement on it. All in all I loved what you did here and my hat's of to you my good man for so far this is the best of my listening this evening.

First of all thanks for commenting. Secondly if you wanted to add some flavours to the first bit i could break it up into parts and mail it over to you. Just contact me via the site and i'll sort it out.
As for part three, some people are saying they like it but i don't i think it needs scrapping and a restart (It's not that easy to get three good riffs in a row without f**king it up in places)
Cheers for dropping by.

Really liking how you started this one out! The vocal sample used in the beginning was a very nice choice. You have a gift for making club music. The second song just came on and I think I like this one better than the first one. That bass is great and the vocals you used is sweet.....

The third one just came on and I like where its going. I don't know why you don't like it, sounds pretty sweet to me. The vocals on the third one could be better though, but I like the beat you've created. I really like the sounds you brought in around 8:48, great work on that. Overall I like this mix, you did a great job on keeping me entertained. This mix would fit perfectly in any club setting. Going to fav this one! Thanks for the listen and take care!

This one has a nice bounce to it, solid groove and mix...
Bass is subtle enough to make it real, some sweet flavours
with the vocal adds...
Moves like it's got someplace to go, keep up the good work....

Word up, boom-tish-tisher.

House sound a little like Jaydee's legendary Plastic Dreams at the start. Not as good but what else is?

1:10 reverse vocal catches my attention. Then filtered new bass and drums return and it's pretty catchy shit.

1:46 pained but ecstatic vocal (just the one sample?)makes it more fun. And a bit dark, also with that freaky discordant stringy sound.

3:15 and that kick gets fatter so it's more tribal with that extra percussion.

3:30 not the most obvious of changes as it's much brighter and funkier now but it's still good.

3:45 bit of a generic bass patch I'm not so keen on. But it sits perfectly well.

Then some ho gets on the mic. She's pretty damn good, actually. Samples off a CD you bought?

7:15 squelch riffs with a cool bass sound gets me going, And she's back and more ethereal now.

7:45 and we're getting squelchier again. Small squelchy aliens having sex in alien juice in time with the beat.

8:45 is OK but could be made smoother. Bit of an awkward jump there.

Overall, it's a good medley of solid dancefloor stuff.

Right, so, the beginning is excellent- it sounds sort of creepy! Reminds me of the track 'Gecko' by Oliver Heldens. Second part has a great transition, fits in with part 1. Part 3... i'm not sure about that, it feels like it doesn't really fit in with the song, but that's only opinion.

Keep up the very good work!

Good sound as usual. U had me from the start. You could of expanded the 1st part the whole way for my liking :) Up my alley.

I was singing 'Pump up the jam, pump it up
While your feet are stompin'
And the jam is pumpin'
Look at here the crowd is jumpin' over the 1st part and it fit perfect...hell yeah!
