This is LOVELY. I find it is a very good background song for studying (which I am doing now :P) as it does not draw too much attention to itself - yet it has so much going on, when you stop to listen. Great work on this.
sorry for the late reply, Orlando! work keeps me fairly preoccupied these days.
i really appreciate the fact that you took the time for several listens, that's lovely :)
cheers!
Mate loving the funky jazzy vibe you got here, nothing to fault in anyway, really liking the whistling sound, just gives it something else, that you don't hear here on site, very enjoyable piece for the listener...Fav...Peace n Respect...Mosaic...
Savino ..wish everything goes fine with U beyond that
mon itor ...again such a hard orchestration ..innovative colourfull sounds & as Bear has told with a bit of Jaz/fusion vibe ..amazing as usual of yours & I'm sue finished version will surprise me (more ) ...Steve is right about Bass mov..
nice to find a new track of yours....your creative brain about selecting various color of the sounds is amazing ...
nice to find a new track of yours & as usual an imagery track ...take care...best wishes.__B
hello my brother.
it is a delight as always to read your descriptive notes - thank you! but above all i am happy to see you are still around here and among us.
email me if you have any new tracks i didn't check out so far, i'd love to listen so some unheard compositions.
and of course as always, if you could use some input or output for anything in the works: you know where to find me.
so long, all the best and take care!
hey, Im much enjoying your funky stuff. great e piano little elements, female vox... acoustic guitar sounds perfect - with very nice and rich harmonics... excellent sound - no too much compress. and stuff...I like that. detailed work on the multi-layered composition - simply great!
nice Sunday to you,
Alex.
Hey Savino, this is really nice work. Great jazz/fusion piece that took a lot of thought to put together. Like Steve suggested, I think mastering this will take care of a few of the issues some people have raised. I think the beautiful thing about jazz/fusion is the way people all interpret it differently. Personally, I was extremely impressed with what you have done here and I would not change a thing. I can tell you that this piece held my attention from start to finish. And I definitely added it to my favorites.
Really well done in all aspects. You have my admiration and respect. Thanks for sharing this. I hope all is well.
Well, that’s an interesting concept. It’s a better track title with the extra characters though not quite sure how you’re supposed to say it out loud. Good point about sleep being a waste of energy (time?) for machines.
Anyway, you should try having your lead Rhodes instrument’s notes switch to another instrument (or 10). The reason I think Danke felt the track was a bit too long is because you keep this lead part going for too long while you vary the bass and drums around it. So, it’s not really offering anything new so could work better being shorter. The track won’t feel as long if you vary things more.
A lot of my synth work comes from somehow coming up with a good bunch of notes and then trying out having them played by every instrument I have in the rack. Amazing how different the notes sound when played by a new type of instrument. So, I just load up a new device with the notes already copied to it and cycle through the thousands of presets I have. I actually use the Reason Factory Sound Bank a lot. Tons of great stuff in there.
Real shame Reason doesn’t let you mute notes in its sequencer lanes (something that has pissed me off for years!) though you could trigger the Reason synths from Studio One as I’m sure you can mute MIDI notes in there. Use muting of notes to make the quite busy playing you already have much sparser and less busy (fewer notes).
Anyway, if you give each different section more variety and character, the whole thing will be a lot better. But people already like it as it is so you’re definitely on the way to something good.
! means "not" and ++ means increment, so it's read as "while not asleep, increment sheep".
this code is syntactically correct but has one big flaw.
the general form of a while loop is while(condition_is_met)do_something; and it will execute do_something repeatedly as fast as possible until condition_is_met becomes untrue.
every machine running this code will just increment sheep for the rest of their uptime.
good point you make with instrument variety. i feel like i should experiment more with sound design and be more patient with experimenting.
generally i tend to have way too much release/tail on everything in the beginning of all new tunes and i should make more use of fine tuned envelopes early on. i get carried away quickly.
i have to check out how i can get reason device patch browsing via midi keyboard.
the abilty to mute individual notes is also something i would love to have in reason, it can be annyoing with multiple lanes.
also cloned clips would be very nice. you clone a clip, then edit either of the clones, the other clones automatically synchronize with the edited clip.
as always useful suggestions. thanks, i appreciate it!
hey Charlene
it's good to hear from you and i'm fine, thanks!
great to see you enjoyed this and i hope you are doing fine too.
all the best for now and i'll see you around :)
it's nice to meet you!
thanks for stopping by and letting me know. i am happy you liked this :)
i liked your track! if you feel like working on it some more and could use some assistance just drop me a few lines.
if i would not respond after a week it is likely i didn't get it or overlooked some messages. in such scenarios feel free to resend until i manage to respond.
Did anyone say it, yet? Okay, I'm gonna say it. This is without a doubt your best work YET!!!! When I get lost in a tune, I know something or somethings are definitely in the pocket...needless to say I got LOST in the tune! The fact that this is a work in progress speaks to your awesome chops.
this is awesome. def gonna download. this is like. happy future joy jazzurp in a cup. really makes you feel good and popping. almost like it's own new style. just goodness all through. well done.
advice? get a badass chick to rap on it. could be amazing.
There is so much great sounds all mashed in , and just the type of track to chill out in the sunshine . Great melody's and percussion and all over great mix . Love it
This is s very relaxing track Doudei.
Kinda what you would play after many hours of heavy dnb and dubstep to ready your ears again for the outside world.
Keep at it man. - B
Well I love all the sounds 1st of all super clean sounds all arounds...
But I do find that the Acoustic and the keys, at the top of the song
when the play the same phrase, in the turnaround chord of that phrase
they seem out of tune, with one another
Sounds as if the guitar is playing a minor and the keys are playing a diminished or a major 9th...
Believe me it just a little thing that tweaked my ear, I may be wrong in
saying so, but you asked for truth...
I love the work you've put into this, it shows you're talented....
oh good catch, you got some nicely calibrated ears it seems. will check that out, thanks.
please feel free to point out any errors like that whenever you hear them, i'd appreciate that a lot.
thanks a lot for your kind and useful comment!
Nice jazzy intro to get us started with some nice keyboard soloing. This is sounding really good. I do love a good old rhodes sound. The beat pattern is pretty funked up now i'm getting the acoustic guitar coming through and the first thing that strikes me is how clean the mix is sounding. There's sounds coming from all over the place yet everything is crystal clear. This is one hell of a track mate. Definitely a fav and a download.
Great funky with superb acoustic guitar and piano work...for me it's a bit long but it's surely my own taste...
Mix is stunning, strange that you didn't request anybody to sing a bit in collab...:-)
Anyway, 'huge1 track...
thanks Danke! :)
nice to hear it's your taste, funky stuff is definitely also something i can always listen to hehe.
do you know four80east? if not i recommend you check out their tunes, you might like it. they give me the goosebumps in a lot of tracks, and rarely i hear a track i don't like.
i'd even go as far as saying it's the most underrated smooth jazz/lounge/funky chillout band i currently am a fan of.
i thought about singing myself at first but didn't come up with enough silly lyrics yet. but actually i wouldn't mind at all if someone else wants to have a go at it!
Kinda FUNKY!?!?!
This is so funky i can Smell it!!
The Acoustic guitar.... I noticed some one else brought it up too....there are parts(3:00 - 3:30) where it fits very nicely adding texture to the background but there are other times when it feels like it doesn't fit. Its this jangly sound where it needs to be more percusive. I don't know really...what I'm talkin about is kinda sonicaly cliche and you may well be goin for something different.
Either way it's not putting me off the track
It's and easy Fave
Very Cool Tune
Peace
BT
hey BT, thanks for dropping your thoughts and impressions here.
first of all i am happy you like it that much.
you know what, you make a good point with that a more precussive guitar sound might loosen up the mix a little where it's too crowded. an acoustic guitar is so rich of harmonics and i already filtered the hell out of it but what i didn't do is shape it with an amp envelope. never thought about it before and i will give that a try for sure, cheers man!
Congratulations on allegedly entering the Static Nomad funky jam vibe zone. It's a fun place to hang out and I try to go as often as I can.
One reason it's not quite my zone is that lead keyboard part that's a bit light and slightly cheesy for me. The notes are fine, I just would have chosen a darker, more powerful sort of sound.
This has quite a summery, chillhop sort of vibe. Reminds me a little of another track or two of yours.
0:50 it takes off with the extra percussion. Good layering of drum sounds. Strummy guitar is pretty cool. After 1:36 I think we get a more powerful snare. The new kick drum is a bit too loud but not that big a deal.
You do a good job of having the whole track dominated by that same lead funky organ sort of part. The playing doesn't really get boring. However, I would definitely switch the playing to another instrument (or three), just for variety.
3:33 track could do with a bit more space in it but that lead part keeps going. It's a fun, joyful celebration of funkiness but I'd like different sections to be given a more distinctive character.
P.S. This has a weird title. Any chance of finding out what it means?
thanks for the specific suggestions. i like the idea of switching instruments and also changing the overall character the different parts bring forth. good ideas, cheers man.
the track title is sort of an inside joke in my own head and hard to explain and probably not very funny to any non-nerds, but i'll try.
i imagined that after tech singularity the artificial intelligence will enslave us matrix-style and the last remnant of humanity will be the useless piece of code while(!asleep)++sheep;. sleep, which for biological things is essential to survive, is a complete waste of energy for machines. i like the paradoxicalness of this. it also plays on the fact that AI is still made by humans and hence contains flaws and that is how this piece of code made it into the kernel of the machines.
so the actual title of this is while(!asleep)++sheep; but i had to spell it out for there are no special characters allowed in the title.
thanks again for the comment and thoughts.
I really enjoyed this. It kind of has a jazz/relaxing kind of feeling to it. The drums and bass are my favorite elements of this track, and love the synths you used. I wouldn't change anything to make it better, as its great as is. Thanks for the little download and fav! :)
Psychedelic vibes on this one. All the instruments moves together silk smooth. Blissful guitar as well, everything fits together really well. Nice. peace
Please master this one. it is worthy. You have entered Static Nomad zone in terms of funky jam vibes. most appreciated the bass line on this one. Acoustic guitar is very nice as a background element. all-together a well thought out and recorded song. I look forward to hearing the finished product. The chord changes are amazingly progressive. Steve
hey Steve
thanks for your kind compliments.
glad you appreciated the bass movements! :)
i'll finish it for sure at some point and then i will send you the tune if you want. cheers man!

Inspired by a track of Pseudoble. I was noodling along to his track "I wish I didn't know" (which is awesome) and had the words "Snow in Athens" in my head. This with the smooth jazz/fusion atmosphere led me to this track with a sort of Steely Dan feel.
Description : This track is built around the repetitive lead guitar line which I have previously incorporated as an intro for the rocker track "Sweetheart Runner" by LM user TinyFinger whom I have helped in arranging, mixing and producing his song. This extended session was a good oportunity to test some new equipment....Thanks to Tiny for not being mad about it...:)^^
Description : It is an elegy, in a modern world. There is fuss and there are sentiments. All together create a scenery where life takes place.
I really hope you like it.
Description : I had to go in on this track. This is a future bass, electrofusion song. I posted the full version here full the Looperfam because you guys give me sooooo much support. I can never thank you all enough.
Description : Psychedelic blues hip hop with lead banjo and acoustic resonator slide guitar. Acoustic drum kits, fat basslines, soaring filtered strings, some strong Eastern elements (from guitar and strings), some dub and funk from the bass and drums and a bit of rocking electric guitar. Very unusual piece of music and a trip like no other I've heard. Some of it is like a dark, deep Southern delta blues track over a hip hop and dub backing. All played and programmed by me, no loops used.
After a quite turbulent long travel we’ve reached a totally unknown planet which is mostly covered with clouds. As we pass over it we can see parts of rivers through the clouds that come out of the dark rocky surface in some places. So the whole scene is alternating textures of white, dark gray and silver flashes. Unfortunately there’s no chance to land anywhere so we just pass, wonder and travel on …
Description : A spoopy song, early for Halloween. This was a collaboration with Micky, who did most of the work.
A musical realization of a poem by Thomas Hardy
Idea: Spearcarrier
Voices: Spearcarrier & Micky
Music: Micky
Genre: We don't know yet. Suggestions welcome. LOL
Description : Real acoustic, electric and bass guitars played by me. Drums are loops and programmed MIDI. Played piano and synths. Lots of layers and delay. A gated moog, organ, my recorded finger-snaps and a reversed bass guitar effect that sounds like throat-singing. Three movements, divided by moments of calm. Thoughts and feedback are welcome.
cheers!
