Description : A kind of Euro EDMy track with trippy overtones. Uses very chopped pella, 'Dreaming' from Oceanically and loops from karnage1710 and various other sources. I like this one - comments and suggestions are welcome.

hey clindsay.

this is very nice. I like it alot! You are really into very different genres and this is what I find impressive. Also I like Oceanically's fragments usage but I can not say this is a coherent composition. I used that vocal to create a track earlier https://www.looperman.com/tracks/detail/159847

Thanks for allowing downloads. I will take listen to this one again for sure, maybe I will find it more coherent then haha.

Nice work! I whish you were more present here as a creator.

Thanks - I kind of agree. As I wrote below, I think about 30% of this is really good but it centers around the phrase and doesn't build as well as it could. Thanks for your kind yet candid comments.

it seems you have a nice control over this style. your synth choices and the mixing choices are really working well. the mixing of the voice especially is adding a lot. like how you drop the percs out completely at 2:30 and let it be solo synth for a few secs. nice work! all the best. Dan

Like Ed, I don't listen to a lot of EDM, because much of it sounds the same. You, however, have found the secret to keeping my attention...you vary melodies, throw in dissonance, use dynamics intelligently....I guess what I'm saying is your compostional skills are really good and you translate your ideas into great music. Really well done (and I liked the quirky percussion outro - I never saw that coming). Well done, really well done. I hope all is well.

that pella is working really well the way you have it in here clindsay...this is a mover and then some...the higher synth pads make it uplifting kind of bouncy stuff & them stabs are great..the outro drums caught me a bit off guard...if you keep doing this I`m going to have to start listening to a lot more of the genre than I sometimes do...great job....Ed

Ed - thanks so much - you could be a professional reviewer. I tried several outros and this was kind of the default considering that this is supposed to be a dance track and lead into the next track. Thanks for the detailed response!

This is sounding great. You've mixed that vocal in really well and i'm digging the synth work. It screams out at you which is what you need in a dance track. You've blended the loops together really well.
Ace vibes.

i recognize that intro loop from somewhere haha and you used it pretty well i liked it, very well done and where did you get those vocals man? they sound amazing :D

clindsay replied 11th Nov 2014 - 10 years ago
Thanks - the vocals were cut from a pella done by Oceanically called "Dreaming" which is much longer. I really liked the way they fit although I wish I could have used more. Thanks for your kind comments.

Ok where do I start. First and foremost good job, the eclectic nature of this tune makes me smile as I love to do the same thing. The intro was eerie, spooky and full of good things even if her voice is just slightly out of tune it adds to the dissonance of it. Your chord structures were gorgeous, again with a diminished chord stuck in the riff just made it for me. The use of a few styles throughout the mix was nice as well. My only complaint (small one) is I would like to hear a more complex percussion added to this one.
Otherwise brilliant song

Thanks Cru - I appreciate the listen and the kind comments. I take your point on the percussion but I tried to keep it dancey - I'll try some variances and see if I can add better percussion.

Description : A psychedelic techno cello epic. It's not really techno as it's only 110 BPM but something like that (eg breakbeat), with lots of banging beats and arpeggiated acid synths, plus a whole load of my layered cello playing techniques. There aren't that many synths used but they do a lot of work and are carefully automated. No guitar. Drums are mostly a lot of drum loops, supported by a few programmed acoustic drumkits. Very busy and complicated with loads of different sections (funky, chilled, fast, heavy) that make up a constantly progressing trip. I don't know if there's any other cello music like this so let me know if you think there is. Interesting feedback appreciated - criticism, praise, ideas etc. Enjoy...

Description : Pretty basic dance track. Was experimenting with the Falcon synth plugin, hence the name. Instrumentation for the melody lines might be a bit unusual, more orchestral. Vocoder is from the Icarus synth plugin, a great new instrument.
