Description : I usually do retro styles, but I found a great vocal track from an excellent artist, so thought I'd try something different and compose an instrumental track around it. It is an alternative or indie style track, so hopefully I did the backing for the vocals justice. My friend and collaborator, James (midiman007), did the wonderful guitar tracks...Thanks James. I hope you enjoy and leave a comment. Scott
Despite the lyrics telling me otherwise,i really found this song to be catchy/happy or at least cheerful.
Everything sounds honest to me.
Lovely melodies adorn the whole song. The arrangement itself dont follow rules,of wich i found really interesting.
The singer is very competent and adds charisma to the song.
Very good collaboration.
Listening to this one just makes me graateful we`ve got places like Looperman Scott...I can`t seem to find this kind of musical thoughtfulness on my radio..Yes...the vocal is really good...kind of laid back and the music really just fits to a T (& the little harmony bits)...imaginative choices in the instrumantation....there is a very long list of reasons why...but I just enjoyed listening to this one all the way...super bit of work mate.....Ed
Thanks so much, Ed. Your kind words are greatly appreciated, my friend.
I agree with your radio comment. I don't even listen to the stuff on the radio anymore unless it's an oldies station. I wonder what's happened to the music, or is it we are just use to the best and wont settle for anything less!
The vocal reminds me a bit of Neil Diamond, strong, unique vocal style. The guitar parts are nice, I like the effects on them. The harp is a nice touch as well. Overall a great song, very nicely packaged!
Thanks allot for chiming in and hitting me up with your kind words.
The guitar is my friend, Midiman James. The harp is actually from a Mellotron VST I have which James found for me after I told him it was one of my favorite instrument.
You have a good voice, different strong with a good tone...
The trick to singing, is use what you've got don't go outside your
voice box...If you get my drift....
Had to come back to check it out again...Well Done...
We all know(I hope) that one of the most difficult thing to make music around the pella.
What I really liked in this song, is your tasteful arrengement...I hear harp, bum-bum retro snare :-) and little things what makes interesting this song without guitar,too...
But I wait that that instrument very much :-)
Congrats and respect for this number and just one more sentence for the sideline: this IS retro too, cause you are this song...:-)
Always a pleasure to receive your comments and read your kind words. you're right...it is a bit tricky to arrange the music around the vocals, but the challenge is quite enjoyable and a good learning experience.
Yes, I love the harp, so use it when I can get away with it. I also included one of my favorite vintage instruments, the mellotron, in it, so maybe it is retro after all!
Cheers,
Scott
