Description : Return To Forever was a group that started my love of fusion jazz and this is my attempt to cover their 1976 track, “The Romantic Warrior. I know I wore out several inceptions of this album from LP, cassette and 8 track. The original track was over 10 minutes long, so I abridged it some. Hope you like and download.

Hello Scott. I heard this first on vinyl back in the 70s . RTF was a staple and a deep inspiration. Thank for taking me way back to my early fusion roots. A great production.

I am not familiar with Return To Forever, but regardless I am enjoying this rendition very much! Quite cool in it's minimalism and composition. I don't listen to enough of the real fusion - jazz fusion. Very cool sounding mix, gentle and potent. Very expressive instrumental work here. Was this all performed on keyboards, or were other instruments used? Or maybe just precision sequencing? Either way, extremely good song! Fave!

Thanks so much Spivkurl. This is a great group with some legendary musicians. This is the album if you want to check it out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoPyLJTN7ss

The drums were done on my Alesis electronic drum kit. The drum sounds are good and a hell of allot easier than miking my acoustic kit. I can also get the different sounds needed like Latin and orchestral percussion.

Cheers,
Scott

Couldn't agree more, my friend! Their stuff is mentally taxing, but I'm sure I will be doing more.

Cool track very, very nicely done lots of feel here with flavour...
I think you've out done yourself with this one My Man...
This is truly worthy of being a CD cut, royalties would be in demand
but you could make some cash with tunes done to detail like this...

Solid piece of work...

Peace...TG.

Wow, thanks so much, TG. You've really made my evening.

Yes, it was a bit of a challenge, but I have played it many times over the years, so I just had to remember it.

This whole album is fantastic. Check it out if you like. My track doesn't do it justice. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KoPyLJTN7ss

that is some great keyboard work Scott..like the stand-up bass..I`m not familiar with the original but I certainly can hear the amount of detailed and talented work that went into this mix...I could get into this style very easily (even though I haven`t been exposed to much of it in the past...its the kind of music that seems to draw your attention to each instrument as it does it part...great job on this Scott...much respect....Ed

Inspired by a track of Pseudoble. I was noodling along to his track "I wish I didn't know" (which is awesome) and had the words "Snow in Athens" in my head. This with the smooth jazz/fusion atmosphere led me to this track with a sort of Steely Dan feel.

Description : This track is built around the repetitive lead guitar line which I have previously incorporated as an intro for the rocker track "Sweetheart Runner" by LM user TinyFinger whom I have helped in arranging, mixing and producing his song. This extended session was a good oportunity to test some new equipment....Thanks to Tiny for not being mad about it...:)^^

Description : Psychedelic blues hip hop with lead banjo and acoustic resonator slide guitar. Acoustic drum kits, fat basslines, soaring filtered strings, some strong Eastern elements (from guitar and strings), some dub and funk from the bass and drums and a bit of rocking electric guitar. Very unusual piece of music and a trip like no other I've heard. Some of it is like a dark, deep Southern delta blues track over a hip hop and dub backing. All played and programmed by me, no loops used.

After a quite turbulent long travel we’ve reached a totally unknown planet which is mostly covered with clouds. As we pass over it we can see parts of rivers through the clouds that come out of the dark rocky surface in some places. So the whole scene is alternating textures of white, dark gray and silver flashes. Unfortunately there’s no chance to land anywhere so we just pass, wonder and travel on …

Description : Real acoustic, electric and bass guitars played by me. Drums are loops and programmed MIDI. Played piano and synths. Lots of layers and delay. A gated moog, organ, my recorded finger-snaps and a reversed bass guitar effect that sounds like throat-singing. Three movements, divided by moments of calm. Thoughts and feedback are welcome.

Description : Found some 70's funk drum loops that I liked and added some funk horn loops. Then I found some effects and percussion loops that worked well with the bass loops I found. Yeah, all loops but 1 vocal track of mine. :) Funk/fusion? Might be cool to have some hip hop styled vox on this, any takers?
