Description : This is one of those songs that just puts a smile on your face! It's a country/pop track and features some smooth vocals by Astrid. I included some short Mellotron passages and I mixed this piece in 5.1 surround. Yes, it's a bit long, but when I tried to shorten it, I was removing something I liked, so I just kept it this way. Hope you like and download.

This is "Radio Ready" !! I'd love to hear this one cruisin' towards my summer vacation destination (That ought to be a song name) Love the intro, and feel of the song! Great Collab!
Man this is fun track. I am impressed how you did the vocals. This song bounces on all fronts again I m impressed how you used the vocals. What a great mix. I like your thought keep track interesting from start to finish. Thats the key to success. Enjoyed Filaofsoul
Really glad you found it enjoyable and like the mix. I'm quite anal when it comes to mixing. I do all the drums and mixing for Musicante also, here on LM, so I guess I'm doing something right!
Hey, I've got to be honest, if this was the way most pop-country sounded then I would be far more likely to listen in... this is nice and relaxing! All instruments sound nice, and the vocals are clear and well performed. I'm not listening on surround equipment (stereo w/ sub), but the stereo field still sound really good. Bravo for translating that to mp3 so well! Very enjoyable piece from you and the vocalist!
Many thanks for your kind words. Glad it's coming through on your system ok. I actually mix my tracks on a stereo set up, so I know it will be fine for all listeners. When I'm 95% finished, I'll check it on my SS system.
Really relaxing track you made. You can really imagine yourself on the riverside watching the boats float by. The vocals are really clar and well mixed. She has a pretty voice to listen to! The synth coming in at 1:33 puts me a little off the musical ride but thats my personal opinion. (I would have mixed in a softer synth). Nevertheless a great track!
Great tune, awesome vocals, it's mixed so well. I am a huge fan of DVD audio and have a question about when you mix to 5.1. Do you start at a sample rate of 96k or 48k and 24 bit, and dumb it down for the stereo mp3 mix. Or do you just do a surround mix in 44k 16 bit?
Steve
I'll tell you my process and hope I answer your question. I use Sonar X3 Producer for my DAW and do all my tracks as stereo. After I get a sound that I'm fairly happy with, I decide what tracks go where, i.e. vocals on center speaker, strings on rear and so forth and set Sonar accordingly. I, than, bring it into WavePad editor in 96K, 24 bit and visually inspect it and fade in or out as needed then save it to .wav, .flac and mp3. I have to check it on my surround system, since the system I use for mixing is in stereo. I, again, edit the mix from there. I'm still fairly new at this, but I've been happy with the results so far. LMK any other question you may have.
Absolutely faaantatstic!! Where did you get the vocal track? The vocals are tremendous, really! This is a very professional sounding track and I could hear this on top 40 radio.
How many mics do you have on your drums when you record them? You always get a solid sound.
Dl and a fav , so thanks to both of you for sharing!! Always a pleasure man!
Thanks so much Wayne. Your comment really humbles me, sir.
The vocals were in a collection I found a while back. They were broken up in short line, so I just put them together to form the lyrics. I, than, worked the instruments around them.
For my drum tracks I use an Alesis electronic drum kit: http://www.alesis.com/products/legacy/dm10-studio-kit and record my tracks on a Tascam digital recorder. I can get whatever drum sound needed. My acoustic kit these days is for display only!
When its this good its not too long Scott..that vocal by Astrid is top notch (as is the way you produced and accompanied it)..I am definitely a fan of acoustic (even though I post less acoustic than I would like to)..so that is an extra treat...the electric bits give it a country vibe...might otherwise pass for more of a folk vibe...I really like it...I can understand why you wouldn`t want to take anything out..dont shorten it..I`m smiling after 6:12....Ed
Wow I like it,I like it!!Absolutely brilliant track. When it started I'd already known its a beauty.was expecting something soulful to compliment and it came around 2:30s in the song. The mixing and quality of the sound is top notch. The drum roll here and there brilliant! The overall accoustic elements brilliantly put together and the vocal well mixed without heavy verbs and stuff.I am blown away thank you Scottb55.Keep it up!
Very smooth, easy, country felt song from you Scott...vocs are too good so for me the number isn't long...no progressivity this time but I know that it's another style, genre...
Thanks so much, Danke. Glad you like it and thanks for letting me know it wasn't too long. I was just about to shorten it, since one thing I hate in many tracks I hear is they tend to get monotonous, so I try to keep my tracks interesting from start to finish, so I decided to keep it as is.
Cheers,
Scott
