Description : Here's my most recent track, which was finished a couple days ago. I'm very proud of this one, primarily because all of the sounds come from one instrument. I did a 15 minute session recording my circuit bent talking computron toy onto my reel to reel. Then I recorded that to my computer, and chopped one shot glitches from the session. I left the glitches pretty much as they were, with no enveloping. Got drums, bass, synth, and vocals all from that. I think it sounds pretty good considering. From the Spivkurl album "Circle, Full Circle."

I can see why Nuada jumped on this one. It's a great piece to just jam to and improvise.

Very cool

Definitely the most post-modern track I've heard in 2011 so far. I love the idea of recycling sounds in music (been doing some of that myself and delighted to see others doing it too - rather validating), but you my friend go one step beyond in terms of production. Bent circuit into reel-to-reel? Dude, that's one step beyond deconstruction - almost alchemical.

This is right up there with "Clarity" for me. Outstanding.

Faved.

Hey Nomad glad you found this track! Post-modern eh? I guess I see what you mean! Yeah it was really fun glitching onto reel to reel, got lots of that natural saturation that I love! I love decontsruction! Happy you could get into this song! Thanks for the review and the fave!

ahhh so this is quite different from the remix. very glitchy start fer sure. How do you choose your instruments?? Solid all the way through and the mix sounds great. Definitely a fan of the new remix!
Spivkurl
Spivkurl replied Unknown
I only used one instrument for this whole track, and that was a circuit bent (modified) talking computron toy. So I didn't chose my instruments so much as arrange clips of a recording session that was full of glithes. Thanks so much for checking out the original!

Got to agree with the comments. Very artisic and creative. Kind of reminiscent of old industrial. I wish I could incorporate these kinds of sounds into my music. Love it, faved.

Thanks for checking out one of my older tracks! Old industrial is one of my big influences, I'm glad it shows through in this track! Glad you like the circuit bent sounds, if you want to use sounds like this, just do a loop search using "circuit bent" as a keyword. Thanks so much for listening and faving!

Play 2 now...

I dunno what it is, but Glitch just seems to grow on ya, ya know? In small doses its like the perfect break from the main. I love the floaty quality to this. Makes my head bob (even when there are lil silent breaks). Which is what I'd say my fav bits of this are, besides maybe the main lead synths you've got going on. And the vox are interesting (though I have no idea what they're saying, haha). Cool stuff indeed! Def save/faved. Lates!
Spivkurl
Spivkurl replied Unknown
Yeah, I love glitch! Interesting that you thought of this as floaty, I guess I can hear where you're coming from. The vox are definitely supposed to be a little mysterious. Thanks so much for the review and the fave!

I'm glad you finally found this track, as it's one that I'm really proud of. Glitch is really something I love to make, and those circuit bent toys make it almost easy. But anyway I'm really glad you liked it! Your reviews always put a smile on my face! You're a good friend! Off to see if I can find one of your tracks to listen to.

Highly interesting and innovative use of old technology - this is a great track. By the way I checked out your gallery and I love the gadgets and gizmo's you utilize in your work. Apart from their sonic potential, they are highly interesting from an aesthetic standpoint - they look like they belong in an old sci - fi movie.

I've toyed with reel to reels & razor blades back in '91 to create music concrete type loops. What you are doing here works. It seems the tape really settled down the tones & made them more musical. Simply brilliant work here!

Thank you so much! I think it sounds kinda tribal for being circuit bent sounds. And you are right, it wasn't too easy especially when I decided to use the reel to reel to capture the sounds. Thanks for the review!

Thanks friend! I am fairly proud of this one, considering the single instrument origin of all the sounds. I'm honored you say it creates a mood and images, as that is my goal when I'm making instrumental tracks. I though this had a bit of a tribal head rocking feel to it. Thanks again!

I haven't listened to much Glitch....in a way that's good..because it's a whole new area to discover and enjoy....There's a real method to this 'madness' and seeing as you actually created the instruments that made these sounds..I'm totally blown away!...necessity is the mother of invention they say..do you create your 'homebrews' with a sound spectrum in mind?...I think it's brilliant what your doing..I'm really looking forward to whatever else you'll be coming up with!...cheers planet :)

Thanks for listening! I think when I'm bending I really look for sounds that stand out and say they could be useful - rhythmically, musically, psychologically... that sort of thing. Brilliant is a nice thing to say. I've got a couple more songs in the works right now. Thank you for taking a sonic detour with me.

I'd say it was bordering on the most fun I've ever had making music. It felt like I was using my own "voice" finally. I'm not much of an animator, but I can see how that would be very cool. Thank you for the kind words!

Great track!

I think I will make that my next loop project then. I just uploaded some other glitch loops from the same computron session as well, but they wouldn't be validated yet. Thanks for the good feedback.

Edit - I think with this track I'll be settling for uploading loops made with the soundset, and not the loops for the actual song. If anyone want's to remix though, I would provide them in uncompressed wav's. Hit me up.
