If you have time take a listen and give mondobongo some feedback.
How many loops did you use? The breaks at 1:20 and 2:18 are very smooth. For a first attempt I think this is awesome. It has a nice groovy feel and I like the instrument selection. The panning on your 'Fire' vocal is cool. Never neglect stereo. Great track.
Ugh, those rhodes pianos are like a soft cloud lifting you into the sky. Smooth, great work here. Nothing much else to say about the mixing then what everyone else has said already.
Sounds great. I would suggest to marry the kick and the bass line on this track with a sub mix to a NY compression chain. This will make them sound full and more glued together since the track has such nice rhythm and the bassline is also cool(I'm another bass player).
"I should really use my room where I have active monitors." -yes, in nearfield to hear the "third" center mono in the center of your head. The relationship between kick and bass will be audible there. The headphones are great for sound design though, and you did very well with this track. :D
PS. If you are very new and have decent monitoring, probably a good idea to read about monitor setups, room treatments and calibration to get the most bang for your buck.

You had me at the bassline (bass player here, so I'm biased, I admit it)
I listened to this before I looked at your profile, because it reminded me of much of the music that came out of the the UK in the late 80s, like Soul II Soul.
Loved the VOX you used, both the male and female. As far as the genre, I'm hearing a fusion of jazz, funk and neo-soul. And yeah, I've got this one on repeat.
Thank you so much for your very kind words wikkid. I searched for a male vocal shouting "Fire!" but eventually had to record it myself. Once again, many thanks!
Not bad at all!!! Maybe you can do better in mixing the volume of some elements... in some part low volume, in other parts too strong... as starting theme you did a gooood job, here are wide margins for improvement! Maybe diversify the music, adding othere elements and, as DjLeeMFW said, try some acapella. My tip is: do not be in a hurry to release tracks here, take your time, listen million times and fix the fixable. Don't make my same mistake, if you listen to my previous tracks, you can see big differencies in sound quality, sample choosen and other stuff. So, take your time until you find your personal style.
Thank you HenryPascal. You are absolutely right about the mix as I have been using cheap headphones on my laptop. I should really use my room where I have active monitors. And as ever I want to run before I can walk :)
