Description : It's been a while since I posted something here, but the track just took so long, partly because I've now switched to Logic Pro. That's a nice thing if, like me, you've been messing around with Garage Band for years. Logic is like Garage Band in XXL. I love it already. But it is probably also detested by many. But everyone has their own preferences.

If you have time take a listen and give Micky some feedback.
Nothing to say, just that it's perfect.
As for the tool, don't give up on Garage Band.
Each DAW has its charm. Mine used to be Acid Pro before it gave way to Studio One, but it will always be a part of my system.
It is probably best to be familiar with multiple DAWs and software applications. I use audacity just to grab stuff, reaper for time stretching/fixing, FL Studio for mixes, MIDI, and experimentation, old tracker programs, etc.
There all instruments to me. Use whatever you want.
Great track at well. Mix is a bit bright, but sounds crisp and clear.
I totally recognise what you said to Dennel about the brass - it always sucks. In a recent track I decided to simply lean into the fake brass sound knowing I couldn't get it right anyway - I spent an evening some time ago trying to find decent brass sounds and it was frustrating and the plugin crashed my PC and HOLY CRAP JUST GIVE ME THAT TRUMPET ILL DO IT MYSELF ;)
Yeah ok no. But I think you did the right thing here. They sound fine, it's clearly a synth, but it's also a clear reference to brass and that works.
Thanks for the kind words. I think you get used to it, but next time I'll take loops/samples from real horns and try to bend them where I want them. Yep.
Cheers,
Micky
Hello BlackFira. You mean Accccieeeed? That froggy, creaky kind of early techno?
Might be. I once designed record covers for it and listened to the stuff over and over again. Maybe that rubbed off on me. Thanks for listening and reviewing.
Cheers,
Micky
I liked this one. The most pleasurable vocals I have heard on one of your tracks to date are really clear sounds in that department. I agree with you about the horns, what I have done in the past is to use a little FX magic, like chorus, a bit on the horns with an ever so slight overdrive on one channel will make that sound more organic. Great work
Hello Steven, nice to see you here again. Thank you for the compliment. And thank you for the good tip about the FX on brass instruments. I'll try it out, but not on this track... it's ok for me the way it is. I still see almost all of my tracks as just exercises. I think I still have a lot to learn before I can get one really good track. Thank you for the really motivating support.
Cheers,
Micky
Had to repost my comment because I made too many mistakes last time lol! Well Alright Then Micky, looks like you've got yourself a winner here. Gotta give you big props on your vocals man, and the production is great on this track. I enjoyed this very much and faved great job.
Hello Dennel, glad you like the track. There are no samples in there (except for those processed voices at the very beginning), which is why it took me quite a while. However, I'm not entirely happy with the brass section. If you need them you have the choice between real musicians with horns, which are very expensive and time-consuming, or samples or loops, but you have to live with what is played there, or VST horns, which never, never ever sound like real ones. I actually detest artificial wind instruments, but for love's sake I used VST horns here, knowing from the outset that I would be dissatisfied with them. It may sound nice, but unfortunately it's not the real thing. I hope that one day I'll meet someone who just plays whole brass sections... LOL
Anyway, I was really happy that you came in and listened.
Peace,
Micky

I love this track!
I didn't think you could
get more presence out of your
tracks but, obviosly "Logic Pro
is all you needed to accomplish it.
The separation and individual instrument
sound placements are off the charts good...
This track is squeeky clean (as usual) and your
composition and arrangement are spot on.Perhaps I
need to grow a pair and try LP:-)
Hello Robbie, I had already suspected that the signals we had received had something to do with you. Even if they kidnapped you to another universe: we will find you! Just hold on! Peace and love from the Co Commander!
I myself have struggled with drum fills - I find them the most annoying and difficult things to set up during producing - that is, if you aren't a drummer (like I'm not). But I love how you've used the drum fills in this track - very effective. The overall vibe of the track is great. Interested in your experience of Logic Pro. Have you used Ableton and if so, how do they compare? I'm considering changing, as I'm beginning to notice where Ableton falls short with certain things.
Hello Dean, thanks for stopping by and listening, I'm glad you like the track. I've only recently started working with Logic Pro. I came to it automatically after working exclusively with Garage Band for years, because Logic Pro, if you want it to, looks and operates exactly like Garage Band. So I can't tell you much about the DAW yet. I think that as I work with it, I will gradually get to know the advantages and special features. However, it has a lot of very good instruments on board. I installed some Izotope tools for mixing and mastering, which I can only recommend. I also have to confess to you that I have no idea about any other DAW (like Ableton Live) because my Garage Band worked for me and that was all I cared about. Sort of a blissfully ignorant person, I guess. Therefore, I'm hardly the right person to discuss different DAWs, but I'm happy to answer any basic questions.
Cheers,
Micky
Nice overall vibe to the track. Initial impression is that it was slightly loud on the ears but I listened to my crap headphones. Will try and get better feedback once I've listened to it in my production ears.
True everybody has their preferences. Or systems of creating. Great work on the track. Sounds like Disco to me a bit, definitely 80s vibe. Voice spot on with vibe
Micky! Oh DAW- SMAW LOL. What ever you use, no matter what you lay down. It’s consistently a Time Machine. The first notes and chords took me back to a time and place of very fond memories. This is consistent with your works. Your vocals and the processing you place on them is over the top. Yep trademark Micky. Your synth work along with the synth bass reminds me so much of The System. Great track.
Hey Mark, wonderful that it takes you back to pleasant times. I guess I've fulfilled my mission then. Oh, and I'll gladly accept the compliment of the comparison to The System... I really liked them too. "Promises Can Change" is a bit of a tearjerker, but I still listened to it over and over again. Thanks for listening and the nice review.
Peace,
Micky
To me the threshold is too high on the compression on the track, too loud and things are competing in the mix, my 2 cents. The waveform shows that block look which is telling. Nothing wrong with the song, very peppy, upbeat, you always bring something cool to the table.
I have had Logic Pro for many years, some nice sounds and instruments in the package. I found it a bit difficult to use and not as easy a workflow compared to Ableton but it definitely is a step up from garageband. Make sure when you bounce down a track to check in the wav/mp3 settings when bouncing down to turn off the normalize. For a while I missed that when making mp3s and my tracks sounded too hot and not the way I mixed them.
Hello Wayne, how are you? Glad you liked the song. Yes, and thank you for the helpful tips. I tend to be a little loud - I guess it comes from my youth... hehe. I already knew the normalization button and used it on this track too. I think I'll grow into Logic - since it looks like Garage Band, I'm already sold on it.
Cheers
Sorry, whenever I address you that way, that awful song pops into my mind.
Completely professional in composition, performance and production. And immensely enjoyable too. Funny, your pangs of guilt in bumping your track up the list by commenting , I feel the same sometimes. Often I'll just listen and comment on a whole bunch and get it over with in one hit and it only goes back to the top once, but you need to have the time to do that. All the best, Chris.
Hello Chris,
Actually, you're not the first person to think of this (hawk) funny song about my name. Spearcarrier (also here at LM) sent me the exact same link LOL
Thank you very much for listening, I'm glad you enjoyed it.
Cheers
hello Mickey. this is identifiably you, but still a bit of a departure. the arrangement is tight but roomy, it’s easy to follow the instrument parts and echo Paul the bass is ace!
Hallo Mick,

Hi Micky, nice to see ya, love the vocal, its sounds a little different a lot softer but still smooth AF maybe just me ive got a new headset but it packs all the groove and bounce you always bring maybe a new processing change i dont know. the bassline is fire. and that synth melody is fly production is always top draw pro sound. speaking of daw' ive always used fruity loops and audacity so couldn't comment but ive read good reviews and tbf daw' are just the car that drives you there, they all do a similar job its the expert driver that brings the flair so look at it as Logic Pro got another expert driver on board good takes time mate great work
