After listening to your previous works, and their quality, I kind of figured there was a reason for the production issues. I suppose the studio being closed is a pretty good reason. As far as the "phaser" idea, I'm honored that you would even consider it. To be honest, I was just sharing with you what I personally thought would be an interesting concept. I wasn't actually suggesting you try it. So, even if it ends at consideration, thank you for even that much.
"...But go ahead and give it a try!"
Ha! No. I don't think I will. Maybe if I were still in my 20s when I had a great range and control of my metal vocals. But as it is now, yeah....it would not be pleasant for anyone. Especially Mrs. V, who would have to hear it in it's rawest form for many takes. lol.
Hello 'V', I am always open to good suggestions! If the suggestions fit the song, I am happy to incorporate them into the production.
Now, I'm a bit sad that you aren't trying *smile. But on the other hand, I find your consideration for Mrs. 'V' very honorable! You are a true gentleman of the old school, which is rare nowadays *smile. Mrs. 'V' must be happy! Wishing both of you a wonderful 2025.
Sorry if it was meant that way, but I have to agree with V about the 1:50 - 2:50 part, to me it sounds forced, even the hi-hat starts to sound like an artifact floating in and out.
Hello Franz, thank you for your visit, your time, and your message. I'm glad that you like the song despite the mixing errors. I have explained the reasons for this in my response to 'V's' message. Best regards and all the best for 2025, Manuela.
Hi, Great Ones,
Your song is truly impressive and magical, earning a well-deserved thumbs-up for the mix and composition! The balance of instruments and seamless transitions showcase exceptional skill and creativity. The lyrical content, paired with your remarkable vocal delivery, is profoundly relatable, resonating deeply with emotions and experiences that connect with listeners. Your ability to evoke such subtle yet powerful emotional responses while preserving the songs artistic integrity is highly commendable. This masterpiece feels classic, heartfelt, and timelessoutstanding work
"Hello Richard, thank you for your time and kind words! It's wonderful that you enjoyed the song. I wish you and your loved ones a Happy New Year! Best regards, Manuela
Hello BaoBou, thank you for your compliment and your New Year wishes, which I warmly reciprocate! We'll see what 2025 will bring for our music.
All the best, Manuela
Agelica writes really good songs. The second part surprises with even more energy. Valve is right... I could just as easily imagine this in a really hard metal version... especially because of the vocal harmonies. But to be honest: you could just as easily sing Alle Meine Entchen and everyone would be thrilled ;-) Bravo once again.
Best wishes from Micky.
Hello Micky, we probably would have already sung "Alle meine Entchen" if the licensing rights weren't so incredibly expensive *lol. Thank you for your compliment.
Best regards and Happy New Year, Manuela
Okay. This may sound odd, but on the first listened through, I heard it for what it was, but simultaneously, in my head, I transposed it into an industrial metal song. (You'll just have to trust me that it worked. Ha!) If I had a voice worth a shit, I'd do a cover. But no one wants to hear that. ;)
All of that aside, I was thoroughly impressed with the vocal melodies. The use of glissando really helped the expression. Especially in the lines, "Why do we run from love? Why do we hide our pain?" When you were using your chest voice, it was very relaxed but strong. Almost comforting like a warm longing. But when you get into the higher registers, it's like a cold pushing away. An excellent contrast that drives the concept and emotions behind the lyrics.
Not that this is any critique or suggestion, but I was thinking a phaser on the vocals during the verses would be a neat touch to really bring some dynamic contrast to the chorus. But, that's just my own thing that I thought I'd share.
One thing that I wasn't so sure of was the production. It sounded like it was compressed way too heavily. Specifically from 1:50 - 2:50. I don't know if it was an intentional sidechained ducking, or if it was just too compressed. Either way, it sounded kind of rushed. Musically, it was good. The instrumentation was well done. Just that one issue with the production.
Overall though, another great song from you and the crew.
Until next time, take care.
V.
Hello V, industrial metal and I? Well, I think my abilities might be quite stretched there *smile. But go ahead and give it a try! Id listen to it. Regarding the mixing problem around 1:50, youre right. The mix is, to put it mildly, borderline. We haven't edited it further since were still unsure about how the second part of the song should go and how well structure the ending. Okay, we could have at least revised the mix itself, and we wanted to, but we just didn't have the time before the studio we work in closed. The studio is currently being renovated and getting new technical equipment. Fortunately, GBS is investing a lot of money in it. We released the song simply to hear your opinions, as its somewhat different from the songs we usually make. By the time its released on one of our upcoming albums, the song will definitely have undergone several changes.
Thank you for your detailed feedback, and we will seriously consider the tip with the "Phaser" during the verse!
I wish you, your family, and your friends a wonderful, peaceful, and successful 2025. Best wishes, Manuela
Manu!
This is cool really. Your ability to write good harmonies and tunes are amazing as always... though I think the mix (or master) is a tad bit harsh ... well? :-)
hug,
Danke
Hello Atilla, I'm glad you think the song is cool, and you're right about the mix. It's pretty borderline. I'll share more in my reply to "V". Wishing you and your family a good, peaceful, and successful 2025. Best wishes, Manuela
Hello, I'm not sure what's happened with your ears *lol. But I hope whatever has entered your eardrums has been enjoyable *smile. Best wishes and a Happy New Year, Manuela

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.
Description : Feel free to check out the lyrics video on YT as well :) This is a new track based on the great vocals by Ashes and Dreams! Again, a mix of electronic/progressive/rock, any feedback is welcome
Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).
