Hi Chris, for some reason your track reminded me of the band CAN, which was around here and in Germany in the 1970s. Maybe you know them. In any case, this is a really nice, relaxed track. The vocals fit perfectly.
All the best and lots of inspiration,
Micky
Hi Micky, how are things? Yeah man, been a Can fan for years. Future Days and Ege Bamyasi are favs. So I like the reference! Thanks for listening as always. Chris.
Jeez man, Im so behind in my listening (along with everything else lol) We had 2 back to back blizzards followed by an ice storm - winter wonderland my ass, more like winter hellscape lol. and bah humb- oh dam Xmas is over. Well, Ill just growl in general then. Or I would, but its hard to be upset about anything wile Im listening to this one. Honestly my only critique is that it's too short lol. You just dont hear music like this much anymore, and you have to hunt real hard for it, even then. There's a little bit of Dub and Reggae in there, a bit of ska-era Sublime, a bit of last-call hour live band, and plenty of ingredients that are your own. You've come a long way, bro. You should be proud, I feel like what youve got going on now is what u should focus on the most - If u were aiming for something, then u hit it dead in the forehead. If not, well, then u have the best accident ever on ur hands lol. Really tho, well done, man. -well, as Rita would say - iIndtil vi ses igen
Hi Aaron, you keep on venting man if it makes you feel better. I'm pretty pissed off myelf at the moment with our so called political leaders, not much inspiration there. Anyway, I was having a few beers at a mates and snuck a look at my phone and saw this comment, which made my night. Means a lot man, it really does. This one seemed to come out real easy, not much aiming and not much conscious thought involved, which is often a good sign I think. Yeah, I love my dub and reggae but I was also trying to do afrobeat (check out Fela Kuti one day, if it doesnt get your ass moving there's something wrong) and a touch of electronic too. Pretty excited with a few I've got in the pipeline at the moment too actually. Anyway, have a good one and thanks. Chris.
I totally agree with what is written, It is a very creative effort and a very beautiful song came out of it. Lots of sounds rightfully handled, lots of energy and your vocals, all together worked just fine.
My best regards, Anthony.
Kia ora Anthony, thanks for that, nice to have some positive affirmation as always. I'll look forward to listening to your latest soon as i get the chance. Cheers Chris
Man, Pnnywze haS Been growling at me for weeks about wanting a new guitar, so i know hed be jealous to hear u got a new one lol. (His got stolen awhile back, it was our mom's last gift to him so I know it bothers im alot) in all seriousness tho, u have some very interesting quirks to the music u put out here, not only unique but endearing too. I find myself being pretty happy when one of your pieces that i havent heard are in line for me to hear. Being a member of this community is rewarding and beneficial,I remember Pnnywze telling me about LM 3 or 4 years ago, trying to get me to join, i just never could focus on anything long enough until these last few months. Anyway thanks for being awesome dude - My bro was right about u, and about everyone else , too, to be honest. - Jared
Ha, well just it's a real cheapie (Artist Guitars - black grungemaster P90 pickups) but it plays and sounds pretty good. I was just bored and liked what it looked like really lol. That's a bummer about Aarons guitar. I still have an Ibanez acoustic I bought with a small inheritance from my grandmother about 30+ years ago when I was in my 20's. I'd be very sad if anything happened to that. Anyway, thanks for taking the time to listen. I'll have to check if you have a new track up. I listened to Aarons last one and thought it was really good. Och aye Chris
Kia ora, thanks for the listen and comment much appreciated. No plans to stop my amateur efforts, it's too much fun and too deep a rabbit hole! Cheers Zoot.
Hey Chris sounds like you dove deep into the creative zone. Its the only way you could pull this off! The track is very relaxed. The mix is full on together with so many sonic goodies. Its Cisco Kid ish! The percussion is so in there and the bass line has super glued everything. Nice one! Keep the vibe rolling. Peace.
Hello Zootman, my last attempt in posting comment got interrupted....sorry. But I wanted to say this is a stellar track in my opinion. The mixing and mastering is quite good....love the guitar work and effects are great. You've put together a very nice piece of work my friend
Thanks, I had fun laying this one down, which is always good. Bought a new guitar recently, which has also been a good thing. Nothing really wrong with the old one, but sometimes you just want/need something...
Messing around eh? it was cool messing around then chris, I liked the guitars but your vocals were awesome man good job and happy new yr to you and yours. :)
Hey, Zoot! I don't know what your music tastes are or who inspires you, but this track has so many vibes going on, from the legendary 70s band WAR to Isaac Hayes and even INXS. The composition is fantastic, the vocals are on point, and the production is top-notch. The fadeout is just right, and I'm really glad you decided to conclude the song in that manner. Great job, Zoot!
Hi Mykael, thanks for listening and taking the time to comment. I'm glad you enjoyed this one. I listen to a wide range of music! I can find something to like in most things from Hank Williams to...I don't know, just about everything lol. I'm a little familar with WAR, just listened to some Isaac Hayes.....pretty legendary. And yes, an earlier mix had an ending as such, but I realised the good old fade out was the way to go for this one. Cheers Chris.
Thanks Ian, yeah I paid for my one (on special of course). Hope you had a good break and New Year etc. Pretty quiet over here, though we did actually see the new year in for what must be the first time in a while...
I agree with BaoBou - this is outstanding - professional without cliches and falling into a typical commercial pattern. Your voice on here? I love it - it reminds me of Michael Hutchence from IN-XS. Kay0s/VT Nights love to mix things up, too, so we can totally relate to the ecclectic nature of this wonderful track. You aced it, my friend. Kay
Hi Kay, thanks so much. I love your thoughts on this. I was pretty happy with the production. I recently bought a saturation plug in (Black Box Analog Design HG-2) which I put on the master. I think it works pretty well. Michael H?? Interesting, because Angelseux said the same thing back in the day. I'm not sure I hear it, but I'll take it, cause he had a great voice!!
You've got me hooked right away. I think you've outdone yourself!! This is a fantastic start to the new year - everything is crisp and clear and exciting and new and different - the vocal coming in at exactly the right time and loudness. This feels very pro and radio-ready! No idea if you had a plan to bring this out on Spotify or something but I think it would need only very minor tweaks!
As you can hear, I don't know what I want or need, and if I get either, I'm not sure I want to give it away lol. Anyway, thanks so much. I'm very glad you enjoyed it. l did some minor edits on the vocal arrangement and synth and guitars at the back end of it, not that you'd probably notice on another casual listen. This is the only place I put my music by the way. I don't see the point in putting it on Spotify or anywhere else, they're just a black hole unless you're Taylor Swift.

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.
Description : Feel free to check out the lyrics video on YT as well :) This is a new track based on the great vocals by Ashes and Dreams! Again, a mix of electronic/progressive/rock, any feedback is welcome
Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).
