Thanks for the listen, glad you like it.
Apparently I haven't listened to all of Kraftwerk because I didn't see the connection, but I'm honored. Thank you.
I'm looking forward to hearing the second version. I'm intrigued by the nature sounds. Especially with it being a track on the darker side.
Take care.

Hi Aaron, the secret is "Jek's Vital Presets.7z" archive, includes 31 from AngelicVibes. Search the net for "2432_free_vital_presets".
The biggest problem I have with preset lib creators is that you have to buy almost blind, buy the lib for one sound you think you heard in the demo and get the rest you don't need for free, that's expensive, then there's also the non existing budget, so I don't buy. If I can't find what I need in my extensive list of free Vital presets (2590), I rather tweak an existing one, check presetshare or try to make one myself. So I guess I'm not playing the game.
I purchased some hardware and 1 software thing: a Reaper license for 60$, everything else is at the costs of spam in my email box.
I guess I'm a pain in the ass for people in music land who want my bucks.
To state the obvious, this is very cautionary. It's very dystopian, while simultaneously being very alluring, and bordering on sensual. At least it is if you take out the meaning of the lyrics, and just focus on the vocals as an instrument. Not to say that your message isn't important, because it is.
You've managed to give it a very wide and spacious dynamic, that allows for all the elements to coincide, but still seem minimal. It's darkness is, for a lack of better terms, embracing. All of your synth work and effect placement is executed brilliantly. Especially the effects on the vocals. All of your choices were the correct ones.
The mix is crystal clear, and very professional sounding. I'm slightly envious. When I sit down to do something dark and minimalist, I always end up adding more and more until it's nothing like what I intended. My tendency is to take it to levels of aggressive distortion that completely squashes any effort of something this silky.
Excellent work. Honestly, I hope to hear more like this from you.
Take care.

Thanks for the compliment, I hope I can do something like this again in the future. But for now I have started a second version where I have changed the subject. For that I still have to record some sounds in nature. Furthermore, collaborations are/were running based on this track.
Hey FrenZ, I enjoyed the track (despite the depressing subject matter)... the constant ups and downs... it's extremely realistic and actually describes what I hear from beyond the horizon every day. It's a very well made, contemporary track. Compliments.
Cheers,
Micky
Hello TheFrenz, like this track from the jump my friend.....the music is a good barometer unfortunately of the present. The vocals are definitely chilling but so correct and well done. The effects and pounding percussions also add a ton to the feel of this track.....a very well made piece.
I agree with BaoBou I wouldn't call it controversial, more like realistic. I have Metal track on this subject and it's more in your face. You pegged it correctly with the title Dark Times Ahead, but enough of the political stuff. That groove was steady and consistent, and the bassline was ominous lol. Great track and production overall,
Hi Dennel, thanks for the listen, glad you like it.
The base line (reese) = Vital using preset "BASS Deep Reese" by Mix Elite where I'm playing with the "Filter 1 cutoff".
In the background is a second bass (pluck) = Vital using preset "808 Science" by AngelicVibes.
I wouldn't call it controversial, I'd call it realistic. I love the sound of this track; I think around 2:00 you can go even harder, but it's already really good!
Let's hope there won't be dark times ahead. It is a very complexed term and requires, despite the controversy, people's approval. I do understand the worries of an artist like you, it is in your nature to be worried about man's well being and it is in your nature to express it in music and lyrics. Let's try not to be preconceived and let's try not to give life to such a detestable future. I liked the composition and the excellent use of the synths and effects you mention, beautiful sound.
My best wishes, Anthony.
Dark Times Ahead, indeed. Sad times we live in - sad times that I'm trying to raise my daughters in. Sometimes it's all i can do to just keep trudging Forward so I can give them the best life that I possibly can. My brother lost his son back in 2008, and went down a dark path that, for a time, consumed him. His connection to music and his talent with translating how he felt into music is what I believe brought him back. There was a certain quality to it that I felt present here in yours - something that allows the listener to relate and empathize. As my brother said, you're among friends here, so no worries dude. And as Manuela said, if someone would end a friendship over your creativity and sharing your feelings through song, they couldn't have been your friend at all. Thanks for sharing this.
Hello Franz, if someone turns away from you because of this, they were never a friend to begin with. Fantastic epic photomonumental soundscape! Kudos, Manuela
No worries here, man. Once someone earns my friendship, it's for good. And a friend who is stressed or worried or in pain is a friend who might need someone to listen, or a little extra to help them through something. My mom taught me everything she could with the time she had on this Earth, and loyalty, respect, and empathy for my friends is among the most important. Like me, u have the ability to translate how u feel into music - and that music deserves to be heard and felt by others without worry of judgement or worse. You have my support, and anything else u might ever need from me. You're among friends here.
A lot of my work tends towards the darker side of emotion and feeling, that's how I deal with how horrible life has been the last few years for my better half and I. It helps so much to be able to release that darkness and create something worthwhile with it. I'm glad to say that you're able to do that, as well. I really liked this piece, man. It's not hard to imagine what the words might be if this were a poem instead of a composition. That's the magic of music at work.
Thanks for the nice words, I really appreciate it. Creating music is something I learned a bit over the last 14 months, creating lyrics/poem is something else, I'm a left brainer, logics is my thing not feelings, I'm open for suggestions :-)
Description : Feel free to check out the video on YT as well (Alan McLaren Project - Upside Down) of this 6min journey from electronic to rock with some psychedelic moments...
This is my latest, but also one of my earliest tracks.... any feedback is more than welcome, thanks :)
Description : A demo of one of my current projects. The chorus vocal sounds like "Aaaaraashe" to me. The song is in C# minor with a nod to C# pythagorean on the chorus. The beat on the verse was inspired by the Peter Gabriel song Intruder.
Description : This is one of my earliest productions that I did at the start of my recording career. I did not have a keyboard at the time I made this song, so I improvised and used my sister's iPad and a 5 dollar GarageBand application instead, and plugged the headset jack into into my PT6 rig and did my best to turn each individual track (which were mono and there were about 25 tracks or so) into a stereo image. Then recorded vocals over it. My computer was so old and slow that I had to mix my music and then BOUNCE it to a new session - four times. My computer (which had 512 MB RAM and an 80 GB hard drive) couldn't handle more than 8 tracks at a time or it'd stop working because the processor couldn't handle it. Took me FOREVER to do. But I got it done. Had a lot of fun doing it too, even if it isn't my "best" work. I'm still happy with it, considering I didn't have many tools to choose from at the time.
Description : Long time lurker first time poster, pretty new to production n stuff, this is my first track in Ableton Live.
was going for a darkwave/synthwave sound, reminiscent of Justice, Carpenter Brut, Perturbator, ect.
Looking for some feed back, constructive criticisms or even just your thoughts if you liked it or not. This is just a rough cut on this current WIP, just the bones of it if you will.. If you have some cool title suggestions, would love to hear those too.
Thanks for listening.

Description : Far out mid-tempo fat beat deep chillout grooves with Eastern/Arabic and slightly menacing vibes, huge delayed synth bass and a great palette of psychedelic layered and intricate sounds (mostly synths) and a stirring, epic feel. Even has guitar solo section reminiscent of some 80s power rock which is then followed by a brief synth harp solo. I began making it straight after staying round the flat of the flute player from the legendary Ozric Tentacles - easily the greatest ever space rock band. I made this in about 2001 and still think it might be my best track (and it's nice and short, for a change). My production skills were much weaker in those days (no EQ, compression or mastering used here) but, somehow, this one turned out pretty much just right. Feel free to disagree. Now sit back and get ready to trip extremely far out. If you manage to return, let me know how that trip was...
Description : Got some spare time finally...just started on some random ideas basically (lets say kygo meets alan walker). A blend of dubstep, edm, downbeat, tropical etc.
It's still a work in progress, so i would appreciate your honest inputs. Thanks to all those whose loops I have used in here, sorry I don't have time to search them out.
Edit-added some more filthy sounds from my previous tracks and gave it some ending. Advice will be helpful.
Apparently I haven't listened to all of Kraftwerk because I didn't see the connection, but I'm honored. Thank you.
Take care.
