Hello Manuela, this tune certainly has that roaring 20s flare and you and your bandmates pull it off effortlessly. I'm not familiar with Herman van Veen's music but I see that he's been around for a long time. I see that you released an album recently and wishing you all the success from your efforts. Very nice track, all the best
Hello Dennel, Yes, Herman van Veen has been in the business for a very long time. He was already celebrating successes back when my mother was still carrying me *smile. However, his original version is quite different. We adapted his song to a different style because I firmly believe that such a great artist, in my eyes and ears, should not be imitatedit just wouldnt do him justice. Thats why we gave his song a new "outfit."
Yes, under the label "Manuela," weve once again released a German-language album, and we had so much fun creating it. Thank you for your praise and kind words. Stay healthy! Manuela

Yes, it is a great song and your perform is really excellent Manuela. Your band did an excellent performing too and I agree the part of the piano is fantastic! You are a talented artist that seeks for the beauty of music in many styles and genres and you always do it in an exceptionally good way. So we are lucky to enjoy your presence in LM. As far as I am concerned this is one of my favs. I love your multi-oriented musical behaviour. I believe you honour what you do the best possible way.
My best wishes, Anthony
Hello Anthony, thank you for your kind words! Sometimes, everything just falls into place. Im truly fortunate to be surrounded by exceptional people and musicians. Weve been on this shared journey for years now, and the consistency of our group shows that a deep friendship has also developed along the way. Without that, the musical diversitywhich doesnt only come from mewouldnt be nearly as great. We love what we do, even if we dont always agree, and I think thats the foundation of our successful collaboration.
Once again, thank you so much for your wonderful praise.
Best wishes, Manuela.
I was not Aware that Herman Van Veen did produce Electro Swing. I only know suicidal songs of him (Papa. Mama, Schau mal, ich kann fliegen) I love electro Swing but the positive vibe is not longer wanted in our society. We do not life in the roaring 20s any longer. So in this case I love to hear your uplifting song but I am sure there is something very bad in the deeper meaning of the lyrics.
I think Hermann van Veen certainly didnt produce Electro Swing *smile. This is simply our way of interpreting his lyrics musically. Now, I see the topic of 'desired' or 'undesired' moods in music a bit differently. If we, as musicians and producers, only follow the direction in which societys flag is waving, we are robbed of our individuality, our morals, and our artistic freedom. Is that really desirable? Of course, if one needs to make a living from music, then its necessary to conform to populist constraints, at least temporarily. But if you produce only according to those demands and guidelines, then you become just another face in the crowd, entirely interchangeable at any time.
Thank you for your message and also for your kind words! Best wishes, Manuela

Hello, and its wonderful that you mentioned it. My sister did an amazing job with the keys. Shes a fantastic pianist, and she doesnt get the recognition she deserves here often enough. Thank you for your compliment!
Best regards, Manuela
This is great. For some reason when it dropped into the rhythm after the keys it reminded me of the bar scene in the very first Star Wars movie lol. This has got a great energy, awesome in fact. Live the lyrics too. Cheers Chris.
I have always felt that if you're going to do a cover, there are only two ways to do it. Either you make it exactly the same, or take it and you spin it, you kick it, you twist it, and you make it entirely your own.
I'd say that taking a Germanic folk song and turning it into what sounds like New Orleans Caberet-Ragtime is definitely making it your own!
For the vocals, I really love the multiple layers. It almost gives it a vocoded sound. I don't know, Manuela, I think Jazz is where you need to be. That's my opinion anyhow. Between this one and "Love Love", it just seems like you fall seamlessly right into the groove. It sounds so natural and effortless to me.
Anyhow, for what it's worth, that's my thought on it. :)
I hope all is well with you and yours.
Take care.
Aaron.
Well, I think its always up to the listener to determine which musical style best suits my singing. I don't see myself as being too bound to any particular genre. I sing in three bands and work in the studio as a backing vocalist for many singers. Therefore, I claim that I can navigate quite well within many musical genres. Not all of them, though! I want to emphasize that. But at the core, I love music and working with other musicians. I've been doing this for almost 20 years now, and I still enjoy it immensely.
You're right, this song has a certain lightness. We deliberately took the original song and placed it in a completely different setting. Do you know the original? I believe that with a remarkable artist like Herman van Veen, it would have been a huge mistake to try to create a cover that replicates the original. I think thats nearly impossible because the presence of this artist is far too immense.
By taking his song and, in my view, carrying this fantastic text with entirely different music, I consider this a very profound homage to the work of this artist.
Thank you, as always, for your thoughtful and wonderful comment. Manuela
Nice Shuffle-Skiffle beat. " Tour d'Elegance" is an interesting phrase. I love how at the end of the stanza's all the words rhyme with itz was cool as well. As usually your voice add just the right touch as well to the song. I love when singers respect the song an melody and don't always try to "belt it out" on every tune. Like we know you can do that, but you don't have to, and it makes a great song! Well done!
Hello, and thank you for your kind words and high praise! Youre absolutely right about the use and tonality of singers when performing a song. Sometimes it really can be overdone. I tend to be more reserved in that regard. However, it also depends on the type of music. What do I want to express? How do I want to musically emphasize words so that they are perceived by the listener in just the right way? As always, it all depends on what I aim to achieve. And I think Im quite flexible with my voice in that respect *smile.
Best regards, Manuela
Ha this is a good one little one
Offourse i know Herman van veen but this song i diddnt know.
So i go listen on youtube.
Well you didd make a very fun version of it.
Wel done to you all!!
Thank you, Mom. Yes, we moved away from the original song style and gave this wonderful text a different setting. I'm glad you like it.
Best regards, Manuela
Great track, the melody is awesome and the piano was lit. I gotta stress on what @danke mentioned about the French vibe, I think it's because the way those lyrics were sang. Bottom line, amazing on every level. Great job and congrats on the album drop. Keep it up!
Hello, thank you for your kind words. I believe there is a type of music that transcends borders among us Europeans. Think of chansons, the great singer-songwriters, European folk, Gallic music... From these significant international styles, remarkable musicians have emergedinternational multi-talents. Without a doubt, Herman van Veen is one of them.
A great track, I don't know Herman van Veen, my bad. For some reason my brain bugged and I kept on thinking about Paolo Conte while listening (probably end of the week fatigue syndrom).
Hello Oli, well, I had to Google Paolo Conte *smile, whose name I could place but not his music. I listened to a few of his songs. Yes, in some ways it's comparable. He's also a musical multi-talent and a great Italian composer.
Thank you for your message. Best regards, Manuela
Brilliant track again Manu!
Versatility!!!
Positive, kinda French saloon attitude...
Comedy or weird is maybe a better genre, but it is only my opinion and I accept everything anyway ... :-)
hope you feel fine and everything goes well around you ...
hug,
Danke
Hello my friend. Thank you, everything is fine with me and my loved ones. I hope the same for you! How is the little one doing?
Well, whether it's a French or German voice, this or that genreit's not particularly important to me and really depends on the listener's perspective. The original is by a Dutch musician who has had a loyal audience in Germany for decades. On the 10th, I will attend a concert of his. When it comes to musical genres, he, like me, is not easy to define. Sometimes his music is influenced by folk or country, sometimes hes more of a singer-songwriter. But his work consistently reflects a positive attitude toward humanity, though occasionally through a reflective lens.
His music has accompanied me since my childhood, and we tried to honor him with this song. I hope we succeeded.
Best regards, Manuela

Description : This is my newest creation, at a stage very near to completion. No third-party mastering or mixing, as with all my tracks. Just have to fix a few tiny things. I FINALLY WAS ABLE TO MIX EVERYTHING IN THE SAME SESSION. This song has all human-played instruments - no quantization or MIDI! My brother does all the vocals except for the interlude part, which I do. My other brother plays the rhythm guitar (a Gibson Les Paul Custom - only one of 12 in the world!!) and I play the accompanying guitar (a Johnny Mar Jag and PRS). He has a lot of guitars :P A good friend of ours, Ronnie, plays the bass and another friend, Freddie, plays the drums. The drum track was done in one take (had to use an electric drum set due to time constraints - but acoustic kits are so much better). Overall, pretty satisfied with the result. Let me know your thoughts.
Description : Feel free to check out the lyrics video on YT as well :) This is a new track based on the great vocals by Ashes and Dreams! Again, a mix of electronic/progressive/rock, any feedback is welcome
Description : The first track I sing on. Cheap stage mic & no fancy plugins. Heavily guitar laden to the point it's got a bit of a shoegaze thing going on. I pulled the lyrics out of my ass & yes, they're a bit silly.
Description : BIG UPDATE 26/02/2014 - So, this was an 18 min track that I have now successfully split in two. 2nd half I uploaded a few weeks ago (Things That Should Always Be, with the bouncy 2 min reggae intro). This is the first half, which has a new mix, a mega chill, meditative ending and a little jazz thrown in for good measure. Takes a few minutes for beat to really kick in. Constantly evolving electric guitar, bass guitar, acoustic drums and lead banjo driven by fat, busy 80BPM grooves with a bit of a reggae and shuffle feel. Also: synth choir voices, dulcimer, violin, cello, shimmering pads. Builds up gradually to nice and rocking and then gets taken back down for the big comedown chill. I really don't know what sort of genre this is except 'far out'. I think it sounds more like a live band than one guy playing instruments and manipulating a DAW. Not my best track but a bit of blissful, sunny island fun. Real positive vibe here so I hope you give it a chance to unfold and unfurl. Sit back, clear your schedule and immerse yourself in these trippy sonic experiments cooked up deep in my off-planet underground laboratory. I have to send the MP3 to Earth via space courier (not cheap).
Description : This track was like the inhale after an exhale of aggressive industrial-electro-sludge tracks that I had put out that summer and fall. This was the more reserved, and introspective winter track. It's nothing spectacular, but I still really enjoy it. I hope you do too. Take care. V.
Description : when i was a kid you could go down and buy acid drops at the dairy - sour boiled sweets....vox, guitars and keys by me. Bass a LM loop by megapaul.
