This sounds cool, the bass goes nicely with the beat/percussion you used. Still lovin the guitar sound. I think the bongos could be a little louder. Like the panning of the guitars. gonna fav!
Hi Wayne!
Thanks for the review and fav.I got your mail:go ahead with the bass track cause I think the track needs some.Unhopefully,I won't be able to go to the US this summer cause I wanted to go with my sister but she's kind of short of money. But I'll go next summer for sure!Looking forward to hear your track!

Nice refresh of this classic track! I'm sorry to hear that you and your wife broke up after making this track. It's good you can still go back and work on it though. Lovin the new mix and beats! Really awesome work! I love your style!
can i ask you another one? how does it become a funk genre? is it because of the guitar pattern or loops or you just made it like an ideas in collaboration of other song and coming from the other artist, i like your so track much. :-)
Thanks a lot for the review.I'm not very good at defining genres but I thought the guitar had some funky pattern. For this one I downloaded a beatloop and then I recorded the guitars, bass and vocals.I don't know fruity loops,I'm using Cubase.

French Kid
nice track. can ask you on how to record my own loops or pattern using an acoustic guitar and putting in in fl9 co'z im using fruity loops 9.... thanks :-)
this is beautiful, it sounds like a mix of old Joy Division, with a slice of funk and some other elements that i can't describe but like! I am going to have a look at your influences now but feel free to reply any influences to this review.
On other matters i think that Minette, you and i need to work on a collaboration, i have a possible song in mind that i wrote called "off the radar" that is perfect i think for our slightly sad but ultimately upbeat writing and recording styles.

i think its really great - at first i thought perhaps it was too "demo" and wanted it to kick into some kind of fat sound - but by the end I had changed my mind about that and appreciate as is!
Thanks a lot for your reviews, haven
I'm still wondering whether I should add something to it or not, maybe some keys but I'm glad you like the song as is
Frenchkid, I've listened to 4 or 5 of your tracks and this is my favorite so far. The vocals sound great and well-integrated with the music, and the lyrics are good and melody is hooky. I love the simplicity and cleanness. The funk is hot. This is just personal opinion and probably bs, but I would have liked - sort of expected - a transition in the rhythm guitar for the chorus, a little faster maybe, more dry strumming (or whatever the term is, where the friction on the strings is greater than the sound coming out). That said, I like this so much I faved it halfway through.

Hey Frenchkid, no, sadly, I don't play piano, or anything as a matter of fact. I'd be lost without loops. My friend and collaborator, Lisagaye, plays piano though. She's not a member, but I just emailed her and told her she should join. You can hear her awesome voice on our track "Reaper's Claw" which is on my page. Besides piano, she also plays guitar and violin. I hope she does join so that we can get collabs going perhaps with some of the awesome members like you. I'll let you know.
Hi,
Thanks a lot for this very nice review.I quite agree with you about the variation the song needs at this moment.I thought some keys would be nice on this one,but as I don't play the piano,I thought I might need some help from a looperman fellow, lol. If you play and if you're interested let me know.

Clean track this....12 bar's have been around for ages and it's probably one of the hardest things to make one stand out...a cool vocal presence here makes this one special...uncluttered, which lets the voice project strongly...nice one! cheers planet :)
Thank you so much for taking your time to write all these reviews. For me loops are quite a new thing.I spent many years recording my songs on a 4 track recorder. Now,I like to use loops and all these softwares give you so many possibilities but still I love to use real instruments cause every take is unique with little imperfections sometimes, lol.

I like how you make the simple chord progression really funky and cool. I thought the bassline was set and played real well. Vocals sound good, nice melodies to complement the music. Sweet tune
Thanks a lot.Let me know when you post that song for your boyfriend.
By the way I broke up with my wife not long after this song...so maybe you shouldn't record that track, lol!
French Kid
This song is very soothing. I like how it jukes you out at the begining. I was actually thinking of it as a rap song until the guitar came in, and still I was kinda iffy. Then you came in with the words, and by the end of the guitar solo, i was sold brotha. Good work
I love this kind of funk, it's got soul. The guitar playing is really good, and compliments your vocals really well. Great guitar solos by the way. Nice job! Thanks for sharing!
oh yeah - you have the groove, mate!
the track is sort of mixture of great old school blues and new-wave feeling - not an easy cocktail!
what if you simply put some effects on vocal - simple compression will add more drive.
but i can imagine that your wife (and any other women in the world) is dreaming to hear something like this! great!
What can I say? Your tracks are great.
This one has some highs that cause my headphones to crackle at times... actually, thats pretty common across your music... As far as the music goes, love it! The mastering side is quite good too, with just a few moments of 'audio stress'... I don't know the right word to use for it, but listen to it with different speakers/headphones at a decent volume and you'll see... maybe its just at my and and its an EQ problem?
Doesn't matter much - your music is great!
Thanks very much for your reviews.I do have a problem with vocals recording and I'm actually trying to find a solution.I heard about pop filters but maybe it's just the settings or EQ.I'd be very happy if you could give me some tips.I'll be checking your music.
Love this track !! unusual phrasing with the tempo of guitar which works very well. The piano man I know of to add to this groove if he hasn't allready done so is the mighty BChris
you know that's a special song for your woman. and if she's the only one that can keep your 'head from turning' that all that matters.. When i listen to the song i don't really listen to the technical aspect of it..but it sounds really great the way it is. to me the important thing is you have a great song and it's message is loud and proud and it's all put in a great, upbeat tune... she's love it. i love hand claps....

Description : Continuing my journey with sampling. This was mostly an accident, and not where I originally thought it would go but I'm happy with the destination. I started with the track Real Reel Switcher by Eunice Russ Frost, which has a slower melancholy swing to it, however I've been playing a bunch of older video games lately, with SSX being in the mix heavily, so this track ended up taking on a bit of that for inspiration as well. Would love your thoughts.

Description : A Dark Funk tune , with a touch of Nawlin's jazz funeral procession. Midi-sparks asked me to do a Halloween song for his competition, and so here it is!
Description : Updated 12/2/2022. This is an interesting redo of a funky and fun composition. I gave it more polish by switching to a different drum kit, swapped the flute solo for a synth, then infused more flavor into the guitars, bass and organ. Then lastly tweaking the final master. Can you tell the difference? Let me know. Enjoy.
Description : This is the first production for STAR TRAVELS in collaboration between MICKY (LM) and JYNXZ (LM).

Jynxz: synths / bass / rhodes / clavinet
Description : Everything is recorded live, so you probably hear that. It's also all me :$
Thanks to everyone who contributed in explaining what I did wrong in the engineering, mixing and mastering, especially Ben (bringerofDOOM). Looperman is truly an awesome community and thank you all. Did I say you guys are awesome?
