Description : Dancing the Dreamtime: sonic banishment in 3 movements. Remastered in Live 7 LE with lots of eq and other work. The third totem in the series. Want to give a nod to loopytunes, Dj4Real, and Donnie_Vyros for this one. This was my attempt of the Slap Johnson 10 minute challenge.

I can't believe I've never taking a good listen to such a wonderful sounding and produced track. I felt I would be amiss if I didn't leave a comment. I found your link in the forum in the ambient logbook. Wow! There are so many great textures of sound. The percussion is definitely one of the keys to making this track work. I also luv that deep dub bass that plays off in the back ground. There is a trip hop feel from the very get go. The dark mood and atmosphere reminds me of a Massive Attack track. Very dreamy and ethnocentric. I love this great work of art!
Sorry for the late reply here - I've been falling behind both in reviewing tracks and responding to reviews as well. Must be a seasonal thing....
Glad you found this one. Definitely a moment of true inspiration behind this one, and it rendered out really well too. Shoot me an email if you'd like a copy, and I'll send it out in either 128 or 320 kbs format for you! Thanks for the listen and review!
Damn!!This track is off the chain. The vibe(s) are fantastic and the mix is killer... the melody has depth and sub plots underlying similar to the movie " Inception". This is one hell of a track N0mad. THAT'S what's up.
Wow, I haven't looked at this page in a long time! I can't believe how many favorites and reviews are now gone. Guess a lot of members have deleted their accounts.
Glad you dig this one, my friend. We've got to collaborate more directly.
you got some pretty cool drumbeats going there, the depth of it makes it easy to listen to though it is relatively repetitive. and of course everything around it is good too, but i think youve already been told that. i should try doing something like this, itll probably be more like a nightmare than a dream the way most my tracks turn out though
I think John Lennon said that Bowie's song "Fame" was the greatest rock song of all time because of its repetition. I think it's a fine line though. Too repetitive and boredom creeps in, and this one is certainly walking that razors edge. I actually did this as a way to get over my annoyance with a series of evangelical rap posts, and in that it succeeded beyond my own expectations. Maybe "intent" is one of the keys to this kind of work. Thanks for the listen and review.
Love the slowed down dub, and then the beautiful nuggets of sound sprinkled over it along the path... gorgeous. It just keeps moving forward, this one, gliding... I am gonna have to get this for my headphones when I am walking to work... Wha?? No more dl? Awww...
...A few days later... OK, I just had to buy the whole album. Downloaded now and ready for enjoying. Thanks for putting together such great stuff!
Mega Monster Music Ltd. currently owns the distribution rights for these tracks, but are gracious enough to let me post them in full streaming fashion. Still, it's a compliment that you'd like a copy. Thanks!
Thanks for the thumbs-up on this one, lofthouse! I think it works because the fusion of styles. Any time you can get lost in music is a good thing. Cheers!
Hey arkeyetxture - fab name, btw! Thanks for the listen and review. And really, thanks mucho for the fave - ultimate compliment in my book! I'll certainly swing by and listen to more or yours!
hey had to review your track to get a feel for ambient music, trying to make it myself haven't got there yet.Anyway the track sounds good, love the sounds u put together they feel worldly and free,I red that u made this in live 7,just got live 8 so im loving what comes out of that software.
Ableton is amazing in the amount of separation you can do with various sounds and instruments. I wish I had a more full on version, as the limitations in 7 LE are annoying. Glad you like this one, and thanks for giving a review!
Awesome track!!love the atmosphere and laidback feel.great soundscapes and ambient tones.I actually found this one in the "most faved"thread..great track...Faved }:)-
An inspired moment captured as a digital recording. It's the kind of track that seems "to give" whatever people want to hear from it. Thanks for the fave, the ultimate compliment! Cheers.
if u never tried in this one. did u know that somehow this could about 40% pass for being hip hop? lol simple u just imagine someone rapping on it deeply with a word to the world and how we need to wake up and c what u are loosing. that is because of the snares u have in here. them fxs makes it more ambient, and yes, it is somehow hypnotic, can relax to it, meditate to it, sleep with it or even swing with it :D
really nice track man!
It must be the downtempo...I used a loopytunes' Reggae drum loop for the foundation, played at 80 bpm. I hadn't really considered a vocal track with this, but I bet with the right message and the right singer, it'd be outrageous. I'm feeling rather humbled by how many times this one's been faved. Thanks for the review and kind words, my friend.
WOW!!!! This music is heaven to my ears. Ambient no, trance yes. When I heard this song I found my self dancing like crazy. I could explain what I saw in my head but it would take waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay to long. In a word it is trance. TRANCE!!! Please, if you can, change it to trance. Any way, keep up the great, excellent, beautiful, heavenly music. One of your favorite listeners, Shojo Beast
Hi ShojoBeast - welcome to Looperman! Actually, I thought this song might be "trance" when I first made it, but after listening to many trance tracks I decided this is something else. I think it's either Chillout or Ambient - and since it's still part of the "all genre competition" I can't change its genre presently. Thanks for the great review!
Nice work on this track! Mesmerizing sounds synths and effects in perfect harmony! Reminds me a lot of some of Way Out West's stuff they have made.Really captivating track man! :)
Keep up the good work!
Thanks DJsDragoN. Don't think I've heard any Way Out West before, so thanks for the head's up. Thanks also for alerting me to your presence - I'll be checking out your work shortly. Cheers!
This track is out of this world boy I reaaly do love this, reminds me of all the things you would here in outback Australia, sensational mate, your got talent with this sort of track, this is sure something to be mighty proud of n0mad, absolutely brilliant...
Hi Estefano! I guess it's becoming pretty apparent that I began performing with the didjeridoo (in `93) and regardless what I do, this instrument's sensibility permeates my music. Of course in this track, the drone is created by playing a Donnie_Vyros bass track in 2 channels both transposed in different octaves. Wicked drone! This is one of my live recording that I'm most pleased with. Thanks for the review and the fave, mate!
Beautiful arrangement, you can def feel that "live" element. It's like floating in to a crystal cave; Shafts of light break in to random prisms, water dripping from somewhere in the distance and a gentle myst rising from the floor. I'm totally in awe from listening to this. I hope one day my ambient/down beat tracks can come close to this beautiful illustration you have presented before us.
Wow. This is like poetry, and perhaps the single coolest review I've ever received. Promise not to laugh too hard? - I actually almost didn't upload the original draft of this, because I wasn't sure if I liked it or not! It's the nature of creativity, perhaps...kind of like taking a beautiful crystal and and revealing its most beautiful form by faceting it, or finding the form in a piece of marble and turning it into a sculpture. Having listened to a few of your tracks now, rest assured you'll achieve and even surpass this one! Really. Cheers.
You certainly get great mixes. The song is very powerful and empowering. I feel renewed in a sense when I hear music like this. Another cool and interesting song.
I'm finding my experience as a performing musician and dabbling with analog recordings is translating pretty well into this medium. "Dancing in the Dreamtime" is one of those inspired moments that translated really well into a recording. I'm still feeling really good about this one. Glad you enjoyed the "sonic banishment in 3 movements."
Isn't this comp great? I've discovered your music and you've discovered mine! I'm truly blown away by how much really GOOD music has been posted, and if it's not revitalizing the site, it sure is revitalizing my interest in the music here. Really looking forward to checking out more of your work - Thanks for the review and encouragement here!
I think you can review as many times as you like! This track certainly represents one of those very special moments in music creation. I'm really glad it's still holding its own for you!
Thanks for the listen and review, AD9. Hopefully I've made it as "ambient" as your own! I love how this one came together, and it's too bad I didn't quite make the "10 minute challenge," but I'm quite pleased with how it sounds and its reception. Cheers.
Thanks for the listen and review. Oddly no, this really wasn't a whole lot of work as it was my response to Slap Johnson's 10 minute challenge. Laying it out and editing it initially took a little less than 1/2 hour. However, going back and remastering it took quite a bit more time! I was jacked right into The Source of inspiration for this one. Maybe that's what an artist is - someone who can tune into the right Cosmic frequencies for inspiration. Funny enough, this was my musical reaction to my own "Awakening" remix attempt. You can't imagine how blocked that remix left me. Glad you enjoyed.
Thanks for the fav on this! This is such a strange piece and I more and more feel like I tuned the creative radio just right to pull this one from the aether. Donnie_Vyros' bass loops in conjunction with loopytunes reggae drum beat (the other drum loop isn't so evident) really make it all possible. I guess I got lucky and the saffron was fresh and the best possible when I gathered the ingredients. Cheers.
Wow, I don't know how I missed this one! I really enjoy the tribal feel to these drums. The whole mix is a bit creepy, in a good way of course. This song is extremely effective, and it shows in how many faves you've gotten. I'll have to add myself to that list. Great work on this one! Bummer I can't DL it though.
Amazing track!Maybe my favourite from you. It's so melodic and hypnotic and the production is high class.Just brilliant!
Thanks for the trip again
Cheers

This is one of those special moments, captured and digitalized, like a butterfly frozen in liquid nitrogen. And still, it remains a beautiful thing. Glad you enjoyed the sonic trip!
Play 2 now...
WOW, when I make loops I don't really ever think beyond the short term (though there is some rough idea). And I think you did a really good job capturing that vague blueprint that was in my head when I made those bass loops. Kinda like, dark atmospheric tribal abstract, ya know? Kinda dig how ya warp this with the smooth alien synth pad-lead stuff. As if to ask, what would a rusty swingset sound like in space?
And I agree with some of the comments (skimmed over em) this could be used in a few ways. I think this would make for an excellent score for the intro to something like an anime or sci-fi horror film. A good name for the movie, hmm- Screams of the Deep? With bold white text over a dark screen that would dissolve off in a liquidy fashion. Too bad I can't D/L this (sad face). Oh well, I can still favorite it. Thanks for sharing mate. Later on!
Hey n0mad the drones are good but the percussion is great. The variations almost give it a played live feel. Really nice work. I think you may have imbibed too much?
Nonsense, if I'm still standing, it's not too much! The live "feel" is a genuine one, and this was recorded "live" with twisting knobs and sliding effect levels as it was recorded into a wav file. I was definitely jacked into the right vib for this one, and it still is one of my personal favs. Glad you enjoyed it, too!
Ah it's been awhile since i've heard something like this, and this is even better. Love it. It's got sort of a futuristic twist on the vibe - awesome work man. Plus it's not often that I see so many favs and replays on a track - excellent work friend!! Nice to hear ya.
Thanks for the encouragement and the fave, my southern Leftcoast brother! I was recently told that my music's evolving in 2 simultaneous directions and I think your "futuristic twist on the vibe" validates this. I'm thinking the favs and replays are a good sign, too! I'm thinking I was tuned in to the right vibes when this one channeled through. Cheers.
C69 - I could here the sigh of approval from 8 time zones away! I plugged it into my home stereo and am pleased to report it sounds good this way too! Cheers.
This is definately one for the inner-space voyager or psychonaut. I can feel the Entheogen beginning to take effect. Ayahuasca, Delysid, Psilocybin - the choice is yours...
On a SERIOUS note - this track just gets better with listening - great remix.
JFW knows the lingo! Yeah, I guess it's time to explicate the "frog" totem invoked in the "Hippo" piece. A few years ago there was an entheogenic conference up in Whistler, BC and psilocybin was brought up. One of the organizers called on the Hiada and Kwakiutl elders at the conference and asked why the native Pacific Northwesterners didn't use the mushroom as a tool. The response: "Yeah, we've always known about the mushroom. It's just that it's the domain of Frog, and everybody knows that Frog the Trickster is a pathological liar. You can't trust anything from the realm of Frog." Two personal totems are at work here - the Terror invoked by Hippo and the uncertainty emphasized by Frog. Glad you dig it! Hope my little explanation makes it even more enjoyable!
Nice Nomad! (I feel I must Sterilize!...Sterlize!..Sterlize!.. lol, sorry...reference to Captain Kirk) Good Ambient... but with a slight edge. Exotic. Not what I would call mellow but I like ambient tracks with a twist. This is Cinematic in nature and could be used as background track in some sort of space epic. I can imagine it in Battlestar Galatica in some of those scenes with the Cylon Baseships. Dreamy... but with a slightly sinister edge. Really good!
Yeah I can see this as "cinematic" and I can also see a crowd in a darkened club writhing in slow motion behind this one. I think because of my visual nature (even sonically) I've always had a tendency to do stuff that's inherently cinematic, but hopefully I'm blurring the boundaries a bit in the process as well. I'm really glad you liked your listen. Cheers and thanks for the encouragement!
EuNegMa, my musical friend from S. Africa! Can you tell how much growing up in Cameroon effected my taste in rhythms? I'm glad you like this one, as it's one of my favorites. It's the gentle rhythms that really work their way into your spirit, you know? Thanks for the review - I'll be checking in with your latest later today! Cheers.
shinbaku - I'm glad I could motivate so many exclamation marks. It's great fun stumbling across tracks on this site that we really enjoy. I'm glad this one worked for you! Cheers.
Hi Nomad, stumbled upon this in the featured tracks section and gave it a whirl. Nice mix and swirling ambience to this.
I think the aboriginal vibe comes through even if we did't have the clue in the title. Great to see people out there who use more esoteric instrumentation. Great work.
Yes I do love drones. Actually fell into musical performance by teaching myself to play the didgeridoo, so it's no surprise that I'd go for this kind of sound with this digital media. The drone here was created with a bass loop done by Donnie_Vyros that I put in two channels and then played with 3 octaves separating them. It really is amazing being able to manipulate sound like this into entirely new contexts. Glad you enjoyed it!
I am a massive fan of your work. Made this track one of my favs. Great depth, unusual themes pulling in and out, great little melody bouncing around in the swells. Finally a wonderful grove to hold it all together. Long may you continue... C69
Ah my fav gray financier! I actually owe you a thanks as your early reviews really encouraged me to continue with these stylistic experiments. Who would have thought "old school" chaps like us could make the paradigmatic leap into this mode of music creation? Now that I've upgraded my software, I'm really excited to see where this goes. It's so flattering to know that I've got somebody looking forward to hearing it, too! Cheers!
My God, this is serious work, yo. Someone could rap over this and have a solid track right there. Though it sounds good with no vocals, which is rare. Most tracks sound horrible without a voice but this seems to go against the odds. Keep it up!
Thanks for the listen and review. I need to "find" my voice again, or cast the invite out there for some vocal tracks at some point. Vocal free music does demand a tighter approach, and I'm digging the medium.
n0mad, I beginning to notice that Slap's so called 10 minute is definitely the therapy everyone 'round here needed I think, it definitely pushed me to work more out of the box and trust one's first extinct's..ie does that sound right?no wait a sec..let me change it, but hmmmm...maybe it was actually better the original way..lol..when the second melody came in around 5:00 or so, everything came together, great mixing as always and loop selection too...The Journey of Unexpected Outcomes perhaps...or in other words, overproducing a track will not overcome a lack of the special ingredients in the foundation of a truly unique creation...need to listen to this a few more times maestro, because i love it!! and faving it!!
thanks for sharing your artistry man!
victormusic01x...in the nyC...beginning to think that finding this site and the great creators/artists on it was just what the doctor ordered!
Victor! I wish the medium was more conducive to communication as there are things I'd love to talk to you about. Funny that we're so late to discovering this site and how there's an obvious artistic/philosophical affinity we share. Ya Man, Doctor Slap's Sonic Colonic was just what was needed. It was YOUR attempt that convinced me to give this a whirl last night, so thanks to you for that! The honor of sharing artistry is all mine - thanks to you and all for the encouragement. It means more than you can imagine!
Thank you Slap - that 10 minute challenge got me over 2 full weeks of total blockage. I'm really pleased how this one turned out, especially since all triggering and slider manipulation was done with a mouse. I'm currently checking out some of your loops for prospective tweakage and I'm blown away at what a sample resource you are! Cheers - Sean.
Alright Abe, I'll admit as one Artiste to another. I'm so happy I found this site - there are connections I'm making that I really treasure. Cheers for finding this one SO FAST! What, 5 minutes before review? Cheers mate, I'll be in contact soon.

Description : the other end of the scale from me, yep people, this is a ballad. its for all the people who have lost somebody long before their time was due,
i used my experience of tragic loss and how i hid my mental health issues that stemmed from it while writing it, its repetitive but has fresh verses
its to Matthias music Du Bist Nicht Mehr Hier almost the same title, He has suffered too that's why he wrote the music and dedicated it to his brother. i hope i have done it justice
Description : This track contains several loops, all of them are from looperman artists - listed below. I don't know if "ambient" fits well for it, but i get most loops from that category. :)
Inspired by the Final Fantasy series and my ex girlfriend. Hope you will enjoy it (not my ex! :D). As always, free to use for a song, any opinions-critics welcomed... UPDATE 2015.10.24.: improved audio quality - lower lows, higher highs. Now in 256kbps!

Post script: The word "Ambient" has come up several times in the comment section for this, so I switched the genre to that. Thanks for the input. I really appreciate it.
Description : Ambient, psychedelic chill out rock or something or rather. Lyrics, vocals, guitars and keyboards myself. One drum loop used (free Loopmasters ambient pack). If you want a bit of a back story on the words check the lyric page.
Description : I made this with Garageband and was inspired by Anime music, such as Naruto. And if you noticed one little part is very similar to one of the melodies.
Description : Depression and sadness can sometimes serve as motivation for creativity as in the case of this track. A few months back I went through a period of loosing a few friends and co-workers. Attended a few funerals and as a result found myself reflecting on life. One night I had the urge to try to transfer my feelings into music and this is what came out. Some baratone guitar accompanied by synth and accapella.
Final EDIT: Further tweaking on levels and a slight change up in the timimg of the choir section.
Description : Hello,
this is a track between composition and cover.
Amandine (Sova Berry or Dine on soundcloud) made a cover of the a cappella "Song of Sophia" by Dead Can Dance.
I liked it very much, so i decided to make an instrumental with her vocals.
Hope you'll like it and if you want to comment, you are welcome, whatever you think.

10 minute songs seem to be some of the best songs huh?
:)
I totally gotta get back to your e-mail, but I love the vibes you give off.
This really lends itself to the senses, and good deep thought.
Altho "Dub" I think I understand the feeling.. I really think it takes an Artist
to make something as intense, and alive like this.
Great track!

lol, and yes, you really got some good loops off this one
