Gotta echo Emily's adjectives - adding Phrenological. Did I hear an Omnichord?

You bloody perfectionist! This is a really lovely piece of work. I especially like how you've shaken up and fused several genres here - and the result is really splendid. I love the bouncy Trance quality here, and that it is SOOOO Chilled Out, too. Really lovely arrangement in terms of placement and amplitude(s). The latest of yours I've faved!

This was actually the result of reformatting the track for my mom to have to play in her car!! I should make more music for mom. :D Thank you for the lovely review!! You've chilled the track for me even further. It's icy. ;)

This is an excellent fusion of styles, and you've intertwined them so thoughtfully. I really enjoy the almost classical feel to this track at certain moments. Beautiful transitions between phrases. This track really flows! I'm going to fave this one for sure!

CalifKen replied Unknown
I guess my secret to fusing styles is that I don't have a particular style in mind ever, I just select what sounds nice and go with it. It seems to be working out really well. Thank you so much Spivkurl, you are the Omni-looper - all seeing, all knowing, all hearing!! :D You are gold. Thanks - Ken

I liked it CalifKen. Needs a slightly better mastering job I think. I'm having fun with Ozone 4 from Izotope and it's incredible for that job as an example. It would give the bottom end more "punch" and rest of it more brightness. I liked the melody. Hmmm... there does appear to a 25 or so second "gap" at the end of silence. Good job all around.

CalifKen replied Unknown
Ah my ozone trial just expired - but perhaps the coolest mastering thing ever it was for sure. LOVED it. It is indeed the best I've used so far. Thanks for that!!

Before I review I gotta comment on something- 72 plays, 2 favs, and no reviews... What gives people? Sheesh, I tell you, laziness (shakes head). Now let's listen to the track.
Play 2 now...
Quick question mate, is there supposed to be an additional 25 seconds after the end of this song? Anyways, nice juicy swells in this and it kinda reminds me of Electro-symph mixed with a touch of French House. Kinda like if Gigi D'Agostino, Daft Punk, and Kraftwerk collab'd on something. And for some odd reason I wanna suggest throwing some Beethoven stuff in here at certain parts (not really talking about the pronounced stuff, but the more subtle sides of his compositions, like the harps that're barely heard over the full string ensemble). Kinda like throwing some really love pads n humming basslines in to accentuate the more constant parts (have them fade out just enough to where the low vol pads n stuff can be heard). Nicely done mate. Later on!

Inspired by a track of Pseudoble. I was noodling along to his track "I wish I didn't know" (which is awesome) and had the words "Snow in Athens" in my head. This with the smooth jazz/fusion atmosphere led me to this track with a sort of Steely Dan feel.

Description : This track is built around the repetitive lead guitar line which I have previously incorporated as an intro for the rocker track "Sweetheart Runner" by LM user TinyFinger whom I have helped in arranging, mixing and producing his song. This extended session was a good oportunity to test some new equipment....Thanks to Tiny for not being mad about it...:)^^

Description : Psychedelic blues hip hop with lead banjo and acoustic resonator slide guitar. Acoustic drum kits, fat basslines, soaring filtered strings, some strong Eastern elements (from guitar and strings), some dub and funk from the bass and drums and a bit of rocking electric guitar. Very unusual piece of music and a trip like no other I've heard. Some of it is like a dark, deep Southern delta blues track over a hip hop and dub backing. All played and programmed by me, no loops used.

After a quite turbulent long travel we’ve reached a totally unknown planet which is mostly covered with clouds. As we pass over it we can see parts of rivers through the clouds that come out of the dark rocky surface in some places. So the whole scene is alternating textures of white, dark gray and silver flashes. Unfortunately there’s no chance to land anywhere so we just pass, wonder and travel on …

Description : Real acoustic, electric and bass guitars played by me. Drums are loops and programmed MIDI. Played piano and synths. Lots of layers and delay. A gated moog, organ, my recorded finger-snaps and a reversed bass guitar effect that sounds like throat-singing. Three movements, divided by moments of calm. Thoughts and feedback are welcome.
