If you have time take a listen and give Planetjazzbass some feedback.
I'm loving the rhythms on this one! Modern tribal music! Really nice natural soundscapes! Great guitar riffs! Cool funky bass line! A very fun track! Faved for sure!
You know, sometimes trying to find the right adjectives to describe something this good is nothing more than an exercise in futility. In those rare cases where I am speechless, I let my slack jawed, drool covered chin do the talking.
I am simply in awe...you are by far the most creative and amazing artist on this site. I swear I have heard this as a soundtrack to a history international program! Very cool.
Really nice one. I'll take time to listen all your productions. But, yet, it's so good that I've prepared my sono Hi-fi, some coffees. I've closed the windows, and I close my eyes to listen to your world.
.......... if you are not a musician,...I am not a human being !
Absolutely awesome. This is a seriously wicked piece of music. I can tell you put a lot of thought and work into this piece. It is demonstrated in the quality. Faved and Downloaded.
Great use of ambience and strings!!! I really did think I was flowing down th river too but not only that the water was showing the reflection of mankind!!! The beat tells a story in my opinion is what im saying and it flows really well!!! Good track and as always keep up the good work!!!
What a massive very interesting track, man everyone has beaten me to all good bits :)mate one of best and most enjoyable listens heard for awhile here, right down to the geese at the end, brilliant piece Dave, Thank you so much for sharing dude, instant fav this one,Peace Estefano...
True artestry! This is a masterpiece period. It's like listening to an audio story where your imagination paints the scenes that the music is guiding you towards (does that make sense). WTF is that parrot thing! Dave you are one mad buggar adding a f*$£ing Emu lol....Wonderful track mate with beautiful production.
Hey mate!...thanks buddy...lol..well I do have a slight fixation with birds..though to get them to cooperate in a live band situation could be problematic,hehe...I guess another factor is I'm a total failure as a vocalist..I would dearly love to be able to sing(like yourself)..but alas what comes out is garbage....cheers Dave :)
Hi planetjazzbass, this is a very unique and 'out there' composition. The urgency of the beat, tempered by the ambient and stark contrasting sounds make this track very engrossing.Finely woven sonic textures and a well balanced mix/recording.Superb stuff. peace and goodwill mate...by the way, whereabouts in Melbourne are u located,I'm out at Skye (near Frankston)cheers
Thanks Mrus..hehe..a fellow Melbournian,I'm pretty close to you..Aspendale!..you might see me walking down the street.I'm the guy giving the hat on backwards dude a clip over the ear...thanks again for your eloquent review. cheers planet :)
This is the first thing I thought of after the first 45 seconds or so! "This is freaking Amazing"
So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish (1984, ISBN 0-345-39183-7) is the fourth book of the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series written by Douglas Adams. Its title is the message left by the dolphins when they departed Planet Earth just before it was demolished to make way for a hyperspatial express route, as described in The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. The phrase has since been adopted by some science fiction fans as a humorous way to say "goodbye" and a song of the same name was featured in the 2005 film adaptation of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.
Arthur Dent has randomly hitch-hiked his way through the galaxy and is dropped off on a planet in the middle of a rainstorm. He quickly realises that he appears to be in the centre of England on the planet Earth, even though he had previously witnessed it being destroyed by the Vogons. Furthermore, while he has been gone for several years, it appears only a few months have passed on Earth. He manages to hitch a ride with a man named Russell, who is driving home his sister Fenchurch (Fenny for short). Russel explains that she had become delusional several months earlier shortly after a worldwide incident involving mass hysteria over the "hallucinations with the big yellow spaceships" (Vogon Ships). Arthur also learns that all the dolphins disappeared shortly after that event. Arthur becomes curious about Fenchurch, but they reach his home before he can ask more questions. Inside his still-standing home, Arthur finds, among a pile of junk mail, a gift-wrapped bowl inscribed with the words "So Long and Thanks for All the Fish" which he then uses as a fish bowl for his Babel Fish. That night, Arthur cannot help but consider that Fenchurch is somehow connected to him and to the Earth's destruction, and finds that he still has the ability to fly whenever he lets his thoughts wander.
Hey mate...Cool! I'm a huge fan of the Hitchhicker books..though I've never seen an apparition appear on a cricket pitch!lol (very early in the Guide 's television series, first episode I think)..you gotta hand it to the Brits when it comes to funny whackiness it's more real than real..Slartybartfast I ain't...but thanks for all the reviews! cheers Buddy ;)
Hi mate..thanks for the cool review!...while I have on occasion used freesound.com in the past this particular field recording is actually part of a Vst instrument..XTreme Effects...I use this now exclusively for most of my sound effects as you have complete control over the sounds and it comes with a whopping 4.5GB expandable library...cheers planet :)
Hey mate...thanks!..I pretty much use Spectrasonics Stylus RMX for all my beats now,it's a great rhythm Vst and has the facility to program beats in just about any time signature..I love it..cheers Dave :)
So going for a more Classical approach these days I see (lol). My god man, this is perhaps the most original and provocative thing I've heard in the last year (perhaps more).
Heavy Ethnic? Hybrid MetaJazz?
You haven't rattled the cages of genre here, you've undermined the foundations. Amazing.
Not often you'll find me at an utter loss for words, but at this moment language is totally failing. I'll be back with a post-script here, as the attempt will have to be made. I am totally blown away.
Thanks Sean..maybe this could be classed as Subcontinent Groove! lol..if my favourite category were listed,as in "Jazz Rock"..everything I do would be filed under that banner...for some weird reason and not through any reticence on my part..all my entreaties to have this genre included have been ignored! lol..there is Jazz there is Rock...there's a world of difference in Jazz Rock...hahaha it's my pet annoyance in the genre lists...cheers mate Dave :)
Really cool, you really don't need a twelve string bass.
I got so into it I struck up a freindship with one of the geese.
kudos dude, another brilliant track.
Hey thanks man..yep I wouldn't even attempt to pick up a twelve string bass...a 12 string guitar is another matter..I love those!..cheers mate planet :)
You created exactly what I like and what I try to create a long time but still with imperfect results..
It reminds me your Chipped Bhudda in "chill" sounds..you are master man..but that everyone knows:-)

Not what I was expecting at all, this has a very unique sound to it. I think what really sets this track apart from being a common track is the violin/viola?, the sounds that come from it are very original. Did you play the instrument/vst, or was it a loop/sound sample already created. Anyway, great track, really enjoyed it, thanks for uploading!!!
Hi mate..thank you,all the ethnic parts(violin..no reverb very dry) are played using Best Service 'Orient World' vst (some of the phrases are looped) ...similarly the main synth sound is a lead patch out of Native Instruments Pro53 routed through Absynth 5's effect chain and Wizooverb...these days you can get just about any sound you want..obviously the ambient water fowl backdrop is a field recording..however that also comes from a vst.'ExTreme FX' so I have complete control over the sound envelope..I love this digital age..cheers :)
I simply love your music Dave!!!
every time I listen to one of your tracks you take me on a journey through your mind, I can't imagine something more personal than that ...
awesome!!!
Thank you Rei...it's inevitable that when you play you impart something of yourself within it....and when someone listens hopefully it comes across....In these days of mistrust and doubt it's great to be able to communicate with a medium that is so expressive and truthful...it's doubly pleasing when you find people that can listen and get on the same wavelength like yourself..cheers mate. Dave :)
Hey Dave. What a fantastic soundscape. A cornacopoeia of tribal tones in a groove that is infectious. I can evision just by listening the actual views of the river, it's landscape around it. This is definately up there with "Magic Carpet" as one of my favorite tracks of yours. The bass playing is superb as always and blends with the other instruments and loops in an execellent arrangement and production. Bravo bro and congrats ! - Bilbozo
Hey Buddy...thanks man..I think this track is heralding me sliding into a more rock orientated sound for awhile (it's probably due in part to listening to your music! lol)...I hadn't put much guitar in my tracks lately..but you know how it is(none better) when you sling on a six string..you awake the rock genie!..cheers man Dave :)
A miracle of influences in this track.
masterwork of your FEELINGS.
your ART IS Planetjazzbass, and Planetjazzbass is your ART.
I ENJOY YOUR ART....... no..... I LOVE YOUR ART
Hey MrZ..you are way too kind!..I really appreciate the words coming from a multi instrumentalist like yourself....it's in our nature I guess..what else would we do! lol..cheers mate Dave :)
This is a nice piece, a very well put together piece. I want to get in my kayak now and paddle up the crazy Euphrates, lol. Nice production, interesting sounds make a nice soundscape, just close your eyes and take the trip!!
Hey Sien great to see you back!..always nice to get a listen from the Loop's resident tech guru and audio muse...I heard that collab you did with Abe...fantastic stuff!...appreciate the listen..cheers mate :)
Super track! It really does convey the feeling of a river journey heading for the persian gulf. Great use of North African rhythms and acapella's and the sonic pastiche including geese
(a group who have previously been under-represented in modern music) is a stroke of genius. Superb!!!
Thanks mate!...yeah the water fowl of the world need their own management agency for sure! ..I've always loved the sound of birds no matter what specie, using it in music I find adds that amorphous naturalness sometimes..but is pop music ready for it! lol..cheers Dave :)
this is frickin awesome! Love love love the drums - and love the interplay between the guitar and strings - and it IS fusiony!! Great work here!!! And love the breakdown dynamix - could go on and on and I'd still be plugged in!!
Hehe..thanks man!..I had to pull it up at the end and I agree,I could have gone on much longer..but I suppose the track length constraints do serve a purpose and keep things manageable..much appreciate your kind review..cheers planet :)

Inspired by a track of Pseudoble. I was noodling along to his track "I wish I didn't know" (which is awesome) and had the words "Snow in Athens" in my head. This with the smooth jazz/fusion atmosphere led me to this track with a sort of Steely Dan feel.
Description : This track is built around the repetitive lead guitar line which I have previously incorporated as an intro for the rocker track "Sweetheart Runner" by LM user TinyFinger whom I have helped in arranging, mixing and producing his song. This extended session was a good oportunity to test some new equipment....Thanks to Tiny for not being mad about it...:)^^
Description : It is an elegy, in a modern world. There is fuss and there are sentiments. All together create a scenery where life takes place.
I really hope you like it.
Description : I had to go in on this track. This is a future bass, electrofusion song. I posted the full version here full the Looperfam because you guys give me sooooo much support. I can never thank you all enough.
Description : Psychedelic blues hip hop with lead banjo and acoustic resonator slide guitar. Acoustic drum kits, fat basslines, soaring filtered strings, some strong Eastern elements (from guitar and strings), some dub and funk from the bass and drums and a bit of rocking electric guitar. Very unusual piece of music and a trip like no other I've heard. Some of it is like a dark, deep Southern delta blues track over a hip hop and dub backing. All played and programmed by me, no loops used.
After a quite turbulent long travel we’ve reached a totally unknown planet which is mostly covered with clouds. As we pass over it we can see parts of rivers through the clouds that come out of the dark rocky surface in some places. So the whole scene is alternating textures of white, dark gray and silver flashes. Unfortunately there’s no chance to land anywhere so we just pass, wonder and travel on …
Description : A spoopy song, early for Halloween. This was a collaboration with Micky, who did most of the work.
A musical realization of a poem by Thomas Hardy
Idea: Spearcarrier
Voices: Spearcarrier & Micky
Music: Micky
Genre: We don't know yet. Suggestions welcome. LOL
Description : Real acoustic, electric and bass guitars played by me. Drums are loops and programmed MIDI. Played piano and synths. Lots of layers and delay. A gated moog, organ, my recorded finger-snaps and a reversed bass guitar effect that sounds like throat-singing. Three movements, divided by moments of calm. Thoughts and feedback are welcome.
I seriously don't think you are mortal.
I swear that was a goose in there.
At this point, I can only stand and applaud....
and wipe my chin.
Bear
