Description : Updated remix 14th June...This is the finished track mixed through a pair of Yamaha HS50M studio monitors.
This is the 11th mix and upload of the 5th track taken from the forthcoming Saxobones album "Festival". This is a blues funk song featuring a 6 piece horn section, alto sax solo and my trusty heritage taking a guitar solo in the middle section. I am including a few vocal tracks on this album and this is the first.
All instruments Slap....Fiona ( my wife ) on vocals. The alto solo will be Alexander at some point in the future, but for now you will have to put up with me at the beginning.
Recorded into Logic using the line 6 toneport.
All comments welcome regarding any aspect of this track as it has to be spot on before it goes to get pressed.
Thanks to Spiv & Vicen who suggested backing vocals, these have really added another layer to the track..
Mahloo 13 suggested a panned double guitar track which has added much more clarity to the rhythm guitar part, also nudging the lead guitar solo forward along with all of the vocal parts. I have also on Mahloo's recommendation taken the reverb back from the vocals and solo guitar. Great ears and production skills mate, it's now sounding like a true song!
Cheers, Slap...

Hey Steve....Jeez man,is anyone in your family bereft of musical ability?..fat chance!lol..This is so on another level since I first heard it,Fiona as they say is the icing on the cake to a superb track.....I love the guitar work especially at play here but there's no doubt the added sensitivity Fiona brings with her vocals puts this track probably as "the single" on the album..do they still do that?..pick a track for 'single' designation...I think I'll only be able to decide when I get the CD and play the whole album start to finish, which will be great!(5 copies would be maximo appreciato compardre)..cheers Dave :)
SLAP im loving this.from your rediculous sweet soulfull playing to the Stealy Dan backrounds. you play with such feeling.i ges that's why you have more downloads than i have money in my pockets.i can hear that you understand the concept of practice makes perfect. i would love to colab with you on some SMOOOOOOOTH JAZZ. have to write summthin special for this colab.great track.PEACE. THE MACK MAN OUT.
Hi Spiv, great point you brought to the table. I sometimes get too wrapped up in the instruments and forget how important the vocal production should be... I still have a bit of work on this one yet me thinks...
Great intro! The guitar stands out as being really special on this track! Those horns are groovy too! The vocals sound excellent, and I think some female backup vocals would be awesome! I can't find anything to criticize about this song. It rules!
Hi Spiv, the sax on the intro will be changed to Alexander at some point soon. I'm glad you like the guitar! I have a real passion for this instrument and love playing it. I can get pretty frustrated when I can hear what I want to play in my head but my technical abilities on guitar fail me! This female backing vocal issue has been mentioned twice now. I think I need to look into adding these but the operation is quite lengthy lol... Thank you for your honest supportive review.
Cheers, Slap...
I am always eager to hear the opening bars of music, when I find one of your downloads. As usual, I'm not disappointed with your performance. The set is very consistent for me, although I remain a layman in this style of music ....
I loved the energy of the song, even your voice ripping the air with firmly and decisively. Just a note to give it more brilliance: a chorus to accompany you from the 3:30 and in some moments after the guitar solo. If the voices were a woman ... better. It is a thought spoken aloud.
Wonderful song and wonderful performance in his voice.
Description : 'Love will find you at the right time'...This track is about how we vibrationally attract love. From my recollection, in the early 20s/teen years, a typical place to encounter this wonderful force was the Disco. (Kay)
'I always wanted to produce a funk and soul song, as I love the rhythms and vibe. I hope you like my first attempt at this. Many thanks to Darren Hirst for his great bassline' - Oli.

Description : Continuing my journey with sampling. This was mostly an accident, and not where I originally thought it would go but I'm happy with the destination. I started with the track Real Reel Switcher by Eunice Russ Frost, which has a slower melancholy swing to it, however I've been playing a bunch of older video games lately, with SSX being in the mix heavily, so this track ended up taking on a bit of that for inspiration as well. Would love your thoughts.

Description : A Dark Funk tune , with a touch of Nawlin's jazz funeral procession. Midi-sparks asked me to do a Halloween song for his competition, and so here it is!
Description : 3rd track of my future vocaloid album, Acerbus 2.Many thanks to Venuslove for the vocals, MrFunktastic for the Funk bass, Strings (left and right), and the robotic sound mainly at the beginning of the song. and Atlasblue for the Snares (sorry atlasblue that I couldn't include you in the title, only 50 characters allowed, thus I ran out of space)
Description : Updated 12/2/2022. This is an interesting redo of a funky and fun composition. I gave it more polish by switching to a different drum kit, swapped the flute solo for a synth, then infused more flavor into the guitars, bass and organ. Then lastly tweaking the final master. Can you tell the difference? Let me know. Enjoy.
