This is very well done George. That part around 0.16 is really cool. I'm not sure is that bassline or low pitched kick but it makes vibrations through my body cause I have pretty good headset. Haha really great feeling though you probably wasn't thinking it will make that effect. :) I really like this. If you thought on song name - search Google for 'Song name randomizer', might help you ;)

Sounds like it has a nice melody and good breaks . The only thing that i dont like is that you cannot hear the kicks or the snare at all and it definitely needs some subbass. Those two things would make this track come to life.

Hey man,
Thanks for stopping by and listening.
Im gonna go add some subbass to the kicks and bring the snares forwards a bit.
Thank you very much for the advice!
All the best.

Nice build up at the beggining, followed by a decent synth riff and nice bassline as well. There's some cool keys going on now and it just keeps building. I like the noise efx as well. I would have liked to have heard the hats come in a bit earlier as they're what make a tune jack and you waited until right at the end to introduce them. Other than that i like the track.

Hi again,
Thnx for listening. Yeah im going to pull the hats to 0:31, I think it would help keep a solid beat going through the "breakdown"
Thank you for the help,
All the best

Greetings. Another review for you because you gave a good reply to my last review.

Piano intro is decent and there's another melody layered in there that works well.

0:31 main theme is a simple, uplifting few chords. And you're building up to letting those drums drop ie 1:16 as the kick enters.

I find the synth sound of the main theme a bit too bright and fizz. So, try using filters (eg cutoff and resonance) to tone that down a bit. Or EQ might also work.

Also, that main sound sits there just the same the whole track so you could definitely give it more variety and have more fun with it if you automate some filters or EQ or delay or reverb. Or maybe all of them.

1:30 another woodblock sort of synth instrument with another melody.

2:15 we abruptly lose the drums in an effective way so you can break it down and then bring it all back in again.

This is fairly uplifting stuff you can dance to.

You can improve it by getting so better definition on your drums and sculpting the sounds a lot more. You can do it by hand using MID controllers or you can just do what I do - draw it all as automation (with the mouse) that controls all of your different parameters in Logic (not that I use that software).

So, you have different 'lanes' for everything you want to control. Please ask if you're not sure what I mean and I'll answer.

Anyway, good work. Very good for a second track!

Hi again static,
Bro I gotta thank you for taking some much time to break it down and review it! It really helps me develop my skills and production.
I know what you mean by adding automation by what kind of parameters could i change to spice up the drumming a little?
I already separated the drums into different sections (i.e snare has it's own track, kick has it's own track and so on) but what parameters should i change for all of these?
I'll also work on controlling that "fizz" in the main synth part , perhaps a high cut plugin could get rid of that?
Thank you so much for the help and advice!
All the best,
George

Fine work for a first electro track.

Are you aware that the first bassline (eg 0:21) is a lot like the extremely classic song Sweet Dreams by the Eurythmics? No problem as it's great but I think they're pretty much the same notes.

1:06 I like it when it gets going in this uptempo funky style. Melodic and you can dance to it.

139 that lead is OK but not playing a sound I like. Not bad, just not my sort of thing but some other people will love it so I'm just being honest.

0:20, 0:24 and 0:2 there are some obvious audio pops as the audio cuts out. Would be better if you could smooth out those stops there.

I think the drums actually sound fine here. Yes, I think FreeRad just meant that you should increase their volume. Or decrease the volume of everything else. That will "bring them forward in the mix".

Good luck with it as you're onto something good here. Much better than my first track all those years ago!

Hi Static,
Thank you so much for taking the time to listen. I really value your input!
I actually didn't notice the similarity to the song 'Sweet Dreams' until my friend heard my song and asked "Hey, is this Eurythmics" :D
At 1:39 I'll have to agree with you, even I wasn't too sure on that sound, but to be completely honest my main problem is creating synth and bass sounds that i like. I'm working with Logic 9 (soon to upgrade to Pro X) and i use the EX24 and ES2 synths but i find it really difficult to tweak them to a sound that 'flows' and fits into the mix.

At 0:20 and 24 and so on I actually muted the other tracks to create that sort of "cliffhanger" effect but i think it would have worked better if i'd just muted the drums and kept some of the auxiliary synths going. I agree it doesn't sound very smooth.
I will continue to work on sorting out the drums as it seems to be the thing everyone has picked up on.

Once again thank you very much for the help Static!
All the best, George

Hey, George. Welcome to Looperman! This is a very listenable track. Hard to believe that it is your first effort at production. Way better than anything I produced when I started. I've also checked out your tracks on Soundcloud, although I rarely go there anymore because the community here at Looperman just provides much more helpful advice and feedback, not to mention acapellas and loops, remix possibilities, and colab opportunities. Anyway, I was impressed with what I heard and I think you should consider posting at least some of those tracks to looperman as well. You seem to have a nicely developing sense of melody, which is something I really value. On your chord progressions, you might try experimenting with using different inversions of the chords so the progression is a bit more seamless and you don't have to jump around on the keyboard as much. I thought that "Santo" might benefit from that technique, although it was a track that I liked at lot just as it was. Another thing, you have used some pretty extreme panning on some sounds. I have mixed feelings about that. I used to pan different instruments as much as 90 degrees left or right, but I got advice here that generally I should not go beyond about 30 or so. I think it depends on the effect you want to achieve, but I've followed the advice for the most part and I think the tracks do gel better that way. Anyway, keep posting your stuff. I look forward to hearing more of what you do.

Hey Eric,
Thank you so much for your feedback! As a new artist all this advice should really help me pin down my style and sort out my mixing skills!
The panning is a good point because it seems to make the song a little harder to listen to so i think ill be careful with that on the next track. I'm also going to write down some more chord progressions to keep the next track from sounding to repetitive but i'll also try to keep it from being to complex.
Once again thank you for your time, helping me with what to improve.
All the best,
George

Welcome from me man!

I wish we had an EDM genre section here,as sometimes what we create is not quite Trace, not quite Dance and not only Electronic lol

This is a great piece of EDM man and i love EDM.!

The start reminded me of Eurymics..Sweet Dreams which i love.!

The only tip i can offer is the same as FR offered, and thats just bring your Kick brum out a bit more, just to give it that extra thump, well thats all i would do lol

Nice work man!

Thanks for the feedback! I promise for the next song I'll get the kick drum singing through the mix! :D
I've followed you on soundcloud and am listening to your sounds.
Many thanks,

This is pretty good, you've got the melodies sorted out and it sounds nice and clean but the kick is a little too far at the back of the track. I like the whooshing stab noises and it's got a great summer time feel to it.
I enjoyed the track, just bring the drums forward in the mix.
