great build at the start and nice transitions ... then that second build around 310 is somewhere between funky and powerfully rock ... yes I used to have the Manzanera's primitive guitars on vinly (sold all those old albums for a small fortune maybe 10 years ago) this is reminiscent of that album for sure. Really nice work
Deep and dark is a good description for the first third or so. Then it shifts gears into something else entirely. It's a great ride, awesome synth work. It's been a while, hope to hear more from you soon...
Steven please find time to spend with us, im not even gonna talk about everything about this thats good, my request says everything.
your a master, and we haven't collabed yet, thats got to change, we been bro's for time, u grabbed my 5.15 fully, spectacular production mate
Hey Mate. I do feel bad I havent been around as much as I like. This has been a challenging year with the loss of my Mother. My 88 yr old Father also not doing so well now. And I am 2 years into a New Career of IT specifically SharePoint (which I am doing well in) which takes a lot of my time in discovery and learning. i haven't forsaken you all though and I love the Journey you are on as I keep tabs from time to time. I promise we will work on something one of these days mate.
And I have to give you a big compliment, as always, smiling.
Seriously, once again, a magnificent and effective masterpiece. I like the composition incredibly much. How did you get the electronic rippling so perfect? Not to mention the other rich sounds. The great changes in volume and dynamics.
And the almost genre change in the final chords completely surprised me!
Marvelous!
I have rarely experienced such a entertaining 5 minutes. Well almost. There are some things, haha (mind cinema).
Merci Manuela. I hate to say it but I have been very comfortable with certain VST3s that I use and have made presets that I know are working in a certain way for me in my songs. And then there is Isotope OZONE which is a massively useful Mastering tool. I was listening to Phil Manzanera's Tune "Big Dome" (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sQ0-s3gxgKI) earlier. And one thing I love about it is its sparse minimalism, but over that sparsity, you can add melodies and lush chords. I do that form time to time. In this case, as it was an acid house tune, I added the house Piano of the time period. Added the right lush level. As always thank you, and if you ever feel inclined, I have some tunes that go up to 14mins ;-)
I'm Sorry, What Video are you referring to. Any use of this song is copyrighted so I would need to see the vid first and make sure it's not used in a way that's harmful to my song and my reputation. So please provide a link first.
You have once again managed to create a thrilling musical firework display that delights with its versatility and unexpected twists. For me, it's not just a song within a genre, but a journey through various styles of music and through different phases of rock and pop music. You have wonderfully interwoven these phases and formed a harmonious whole from individual fragments. Great!
Best regards, Manuela
Sup Steven?
Liking the ambient intro .40 that's what I'm talking about than the Beat kicks in! Very cool I probably label this jazzbreak the metal trance! Lol the space voice is cool than the house
Great stuff (as usual) Steve..good to know you are still doing your creative thing..that distorted guitar is freeking rank/great but you have always done the magic with the synths, so I get some education as I listen. You da man. Keep on my friend..Ed
Ahh Ed, Welcome. Always good to hear from you. Yes I am going through a dry spell (as we all do from time to time) I never force the creativity but I did revamp the studio and I wanted to try something. I picked up a Cheap Strat copy from China (Temu) which is surprisingly not bad, so I am re-learning some guitar.Be well mate!
Well, Steve. Your tracks continue to astound me. First of all, a pristine mix. Actually, that's not astounding at all for you, but so nice to hear. You are right. Need decent headphones to really appreciate the nuances I think. Second of all, you continue to forge ahead, exploring/creating innovative compositions. (I seem to be heading backwards, retreating into older comfort zones.)
Like Angel Eyes, I particularly enjoyed the part starting around 3:53. But, frankly, the entire track was engaging and masterfully executed. As usual.

Exploring the past can sometimes be an amazing fountain of creativity to expound on what was created in such a fast-paced time experience and no one has sat down and unfolded and unpacked what made these genres successful (i.e. Disco) I love deconstructing genres and adding nuances and modern features. Roxy Music when they came out were masters of making you feel the future and yet reclaiming the past (50's) as their own. If you look at it from that perspective you will stop trying to clone the sound but just embrace the sound and make it your own.I like Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies in the Studio. You may pull a card and it will say make a disco tune that represents the Color Blue. Thats where your creativity takes off mate!
Mr. C. so we meet again. Only this time, the advantage is mine. Well, it's not really. That just sounded like some villain shit to say.
I dig this one alot. Not only because I am part of that broken Generation, but because you absolutely nailed that 90s sound. So many elements of the time. I don't really need to go into detail as to what I mean. You made it. You know what they are. I do really like the modern production. That and the excessive use of distortion. (I mean that in the best way possible.) That, to me, is what really illustrates the broken nature of the X. We had what seemed like a fun and bouncy time. But, oh no...not when you see the underbelly. We were a dark and vicious lot.
I hope all is well with you, brother.
Ahhh Mr V. (Talking while Stroking a cat or a synonym) I have found myself gravitating to Breakbeat and The Prodigy, Aphex Twin, Photek, Orbital, and the Chemical Brothers these days. So this is sort of a Homage in the way I make music.
As all of my music has a dark soft white underbelly sound. You nailed the X experience spot on. We are durable, and loyal yet spent and disappointed and disgusted with our experience on this planet. But we also know we can change some of it with hard work and perseverance. X is Broken, Y will fix it and Z will understand it.
What a dope song. Normally I would give out some pointers or what I think maybe could use a second look, but this is a very well-rounded freaking song man. Good production but also good mixing. Well done.
You would like to believe that I am so committed to the cause of authenticity that those rips are real. Aside from increasing fibre in my diet these days, I will disappoint you in saying... they are not. But Big Watery Farts is an awesome name for a band from Sheffield. Carry on!
great intro synth Steven and the drums and percs are all the same in style and rhythm but all different textures velocity and tension, its industrial in places too. it all sits together beautifully the melody is charming, the transitions are all on point too, excellent work
WOW! just from the first note, I knew it was going to rock! this joint & I was not wrong. This is freaking OUTSTANDING!!! bloody hell! what a track, you never disappoint, everything about the beat is popping and then when the horn came in it lured into a false sense of security as we get to 2:24 like wow! a plethora of musical joy! I'm floored but my fave part is around 3:53 the melody is super sweeettt!!! what a mind trip & well worth it from intro to outro. GREAT! work here indeed. Bravo!
As I was making this I almost stopped before 3:53, but then I realized I had left nothing melodically for the listener at this point and there was nothing to lure you back, so hence 3:53.
