I don't sing, play an instrument or write songs! When asked to select subjects for study at my last High School I picked Music. Somehow, by osmosis probably (my 3 classmates were nerds) I attained a Pass for Year 10.
All these years later through work I discover how to use DAW and sites like LOOPERMAN. So I see myself somewhere in the mix of composer/producer and student sound engineer.
I make a bunch of noise on anything, don't read music anymore and love experimenting with DAW, if you can call that an instrument.
I have tried to use just about every one of the major DAW programs - some too simple, some too complex. Lately I use Mixpad, and a few others.
Nothing special, always checking out new stuff though.
I listen to a lot of stuff sent to me from members of Facebook, Reverbnation, Instagram and such. I like listening to my own tracks also.
No favorites, sorry! I will listen to about anything.
Alfred Hitchcock and composers around the 1930's and up gave me inspiration. My first exposure to music was watching Disney Cartoons with their wonderful mix of orchestral and Foley themes.
Next I would have to say watching our Dad play the harmonica fascinated me somewhat and still does.
Cinematic themes rely on grabbing the listener and evoking emotional responses be they happy, sad scared etc. I like to take the listener somewhere and give them an experience not likely forgotten.
Lately my task has been to collate vintage prints in between all the usual stuff expected from my small wholesale business.
