I'm typically a singer in a rock band, but browse the looperman site for when my "chillout" bug bites.
I'm a singer with a 4 octave range
Cubase and a top secret mastering software ;-)
Again, I'm a singer - microphone, interface and my DAW = good to go!
It's before my time, but I have been really digging Mark Almond's "Rising" album as of late
Queensryche - Operation Mindcrime
Foreigner - Double Vision
Iron Maiden - Powerslave
Mark Almond - Rising
Leon Russel - Will O'the Wisp
As a vocalist, my influences vary. I prefer the vocalists who move me over the ones that are technically amazing. Altho I do like both. For chillout tracks tho, I tend to lean toward the gothic side of things, mixed in with some progressive elements. ie; Marillion, Peter Hammill
I'm a singer, I write vocal melodies. I'm versatile tho, so rock/metal isn't my only game. I've done a chill out album, I've done really heavy stuff, all the way to doom and basic rock - to sappy ballads!
do a lot of reading and prepare to take over the world. Ok, maybe the world is a bit ambitious. First I take Manhattan!
