About Me

I'm updating my profile 1/2/2025 but leaving the original answers intact.

Artist Musician looking for a good time. After years of backbreaking work I realised you could get a job sitting down most of the time.

I care about creating things more than anything, more than people even (which I may regret), although if I don't there is truth that I'm more of a menace than benefit to society if I don't. I'm aware that any of my works will ever be valued highly or profitable in anyways and I put to the wayside far more than produce and I sit not working under a kind of crushing defeat from this realisation far to often. When you hitch your wagon to both offering and receiving Love for what you do then you can get stuck in the mud. I am compelled that these things/songs need to exist in the world because they simply cannot not.

Instruments I Play

Bass Keys and Acoustic Guitar.

I wish I used and picked these up more than I do and believe some of my bestest and unfinished materials began here, it's easier to box it out of lazyness and comfort rather than having to learn a line (and be happy with it) my process in this area would be to record my own vocals which I hope to share about in my next 10 year update.

Software I Use

Logix.

I still use Logic on a Hackingtosh as well as other softwares I found laying around on the internet (I see my needs surpass licence). It's on Snow leopard so despite not being able to use some of the newer incompatible software's I would clone the system if I had the resources because I'm so used to it doesn't get in the way of fluidity or flow. I think like many that maybe continuity and stability is an important factor in whichever tools you choose to use.

Hardware I Use

Mackie Onyx 1640 + Computer some outboard gear FX, EQ's and compressor, Electribe, Yamaha pf85 as a controller. Guitars amps, basses wires and microphones.

I still use the same hardware and despite getting better at routing and implementation this is a huge area I wish to develop in. The drawbacks I have are not being able to hear the convergence of signals through the hardware having only a stereo out so everything gets the same paint which is undesirable when wanting divination. It does allow for individual treatment on L - R channels when re-amping through the hardware (sounds are better, more than the sum when not diametric). You can use controllers also. The Korg Electribe I have been delving into more, it's a fascinating machine with some poke and drops worth the while.

Listening To Right Now

Many things.

According to my you tube history the last songs I listened too were Snarky Puppy - Grown Folk. Phil Collins and 'I love it' by Kanye et al. The Recording sessions for the snarky puppy album was interesting involving 3 drummers and all kinds of microphone madness which Nic Hard talks about in a sonic scoop Vid. I was using some Collins tracks to reference and I was interested how the Kanye track was put together.

10 Favourite Albums

Too many I haven't heard yet.

The Old Quarter sessions - Townes Van Zandt
Blue - Joni Mitchell
Hunky Dory - David Bowie
The Lemon Twigs - Corner of my eye. (sorry only a single but gorgeous).
Helplessly Hoping - Cosby Stills and Nash - Recently re-heard while re-watching 'Annihilation'.

My Influences / Fav Artists

The theater of the absurd and some musics. There's a silver birch across the road that influences me a lot.. Update November 2023. They cut down the silver birch a couple of years ago. The inspiration came from within me all along.

I have been listening to a lot on here.
I watch and value a lot of youtubers who know what there talking about and often seek materials to lift me out of a creative flump with new techniques I cannot passover trying immediately.
I hear material off tv shows that I try and sometimes fail at remembering to return to to understand the feel, instrumentation of the last being some stuff from 'True detective' series I, the end track to 'Soft and Quiet' and loads more I really wish I jotted down so I don't have to rack my brain or search through hours of a TV show to find which I sometimes don't like a song I'm sure I heard in a Werner Herzog Documentary about volcanoes but for the life of me can't find.

My Music Sounds Like

I have no idea.

I'm constantly trying to express and push boundaries in my productions, learn new techniques and means to create new sounds. I don't have a particular genre but recently I have been working a lot on orchestral and string movements. My website was with an artist called RayOne which is kind of grimy beats but I have an interest in 'Big Band' at the moment as well as picking up some of my singer song writer stuff.

In My Other Life I ...

I have no other life, you tube does that count?

I like the process of learning, understanding new things and although a consummate producer of the musics this field has dragged me into areas such as graphic design and web development for this reason as playing in bands dragged me into live sound mixing and theatre sound design and staging. I mentioned youtube 10 years ago but this is mainly a means to learning new skills.
