There are a good amount of Hip-Hop producers out there, but none as adamant of their craft as Charlotte, North Carolina's own Sun7, whom has single-handedly kept heads bobbing with his seemingly neverending array of production. Possessing an uncanny knack of being able to spread his sound in many different directions simultaneously, one may find it difficult to pin him down to one specific style and genre.
Born in Los Angeles,California, and relocating to North Carolina at the age of thirteen, Sun7's musical knowledge is nothing short of vast amidst its diversity, which of course is the power source of his wide spectrum of production styles, which began to manifest in 2001 as an apprentice to Tina Cooper,an audio architect with Muzak. Spending countless hours in the studio learning various high powered music programs, Sun7 managed to produce his first 4-track demo entitled "Shock Value", which contained the hard-hitters "Shellz Keep Droppin'" and "Stickemup", that quickly got his name around Charlotte's local Underground Hip-Hop circuit at an alarming rate.
In 2005, his first LP "Even @ The Darkest Hour" was under construction and was released digitally in 2007 and features various special guests, as well as displaying his lyrical skills as arguably one of Charlotte, N.C.'s elite lyricists. Alternating between producing and writing, Sun7 is in the process of assembling tracks for his upcoming 2nd LP "General Principle", which promises to be a tighter effort than the rough and edgy "Even @ The Darkest Hour" album, and will deliver more hard hitting beats, dope M.C.'s, and that sound that fans and artists alike can only expect coming from one of the deadliest producer/M.C's on the East Coast.
Creating Exile Productions in 1996 and slowly taking shape in 2000, Sun7 has produced tracks for many artists thus far (see production credits), and continues to add to the list...from Charlotte to New York, Illinois, Michigan, Germany and France. There are no plans in stopping anytime soon, so keep your eyes and ears open for a lot of good things to come from Exile!!
