I'm no musician for starters. For a hobby I mess around with 3D software and graphics programs in general. When I make animations, I need to create some background music and sound effects. I won't rip music off from someplace, I need to make it myself, sorta. I use music software that utilize loops to make my background music. I appreciate those of you that create loops and I'm glad I found this site. I've made a few that work for me in FL Studio, but it takes away from my animation time, which is where my passion lies.
I don't play a instrument.
I bought Fruity Loops years ago. I just bought Magix music Maker for the second time. Soundforge was included with Magix. I used to have Acid, I see Magix now sells that as well, I may get that someday again.
Just the soundcard in my 'puter.
Today I'm listening to some new Reggae I purchased on bandcamp, SAAH KARIM, Claude Fontaine, and Brother Culture
Street Corner Talking - Savoy Brown, Any Pink Floyd, A lot of Reggae - Not just Bob Marley, Rare Earth Live in concert, Higher Power - Bernard Allison, Deuces Wild - BB King
I guess Pink Floyd would be the big one, particularly David Gilmour.
I like many genere's of music but the music I am making is background music for my animations. Like a soundtrack for a movie or TV show, it varies according to what actions are taking place. To date, my animations are Sci-Fi in nature, so I use ambient music mainly so far. My next animation may be something totally different.
I'm retired. I was a welder for many years and switched over to drafter/designer. I designed parts for packaging machines and did sheet metal layout mainly.
