Jay York, real name Justin York, was born and raised on the gulf coast of Mississippi. Some examples of his influences are Def Leppard, Duran Duran, Metallica, Kenny Rogers, Anthrax, Nine Inch Nails, Nirvana, and so many more. At the age of 15, he started writing songs/poems. He never recorded or created music for his songs up until moving to Albuquerque, NM after Hurricane Katrina. Jay recorded a song, "Watch Me Die", and was instantly hooked on the creating and recording process. After 6 long years of fine tuning his sound and writing styles, Jay is ready to release his first mixtape, "Hope for an Underdog". He tends to write about emotional issues that can be related to everyone. From being dumped, or doing the dumping, to loving someone unconditional, or losing a loved one, or just breaking loose and rocking out. Jay is open to all kinds of music and is ready to establish his right to be in music.
